Pros

A huge positive is the culture at SAPI, we seem to put a great emphasis on hiring bright, friendly people, so the overall vibe is lovely. Our core hours (11 - 4) work really well for collaborating between London and Vietnam offices, as well as allowing for flexibility in your own schedule. Whole company does 1 day (Wednesdays currently) in the office, so it is valuable to come in as you see everyone, On the tech side we have some great people with a good vision. We seem to balance well between moving quickly and upholding engineering excellence - to be expected of a startup. Being a small tech team we have opportunity to take on ambitious projects/initiatives, and some very talented engineers, so there are many opportunities and challenges that allow you to grow and learn professionally.

Cons

We are beginning to settle on a product/model that works for us, but we have been through a variety of changes so that always creates a bit of chaos. But this is also standard startup life. Sometimes selling the value of addressing tech debt can be difficult internally, which makes delivering new features much slower/flaky over time. Again also small growing business standard issue!

Pros

Non I can think of.

Cons

Sapi claims to be structured and people-focused, but the reality is quite the opposite. Leadership is unclear, decision-making is slow, and accountability is minimal. Priorities constantly shift without communication or rationale, people constantly being let go'd and replaced. After contributing heavily to process improvements and helping the company through serious financial challenges to stay afloat, I was abruptly let go. Less than a month later, they had already hired my replacement. The timeline suggests recruitment began while I was still employed - and since I never saw the role advertised, it’s unclear how the process was handled or whether it was open and fair for all. Additionally they had mentioned there was a hiring freeze for 2 years which clearly was not true. The company often talks about valuing employee feedback, yet their internal surveys aren’t anonymous - names are visible. This naturally leads to filtered, overly positive responses and prevents genuine feedback. Having worked in several startups, I’ve never seen a culture so disconnected from its stated values. Sapi promises growth and opportunity, but in reality, it’s reactive, unstable, and driven by short-term thinking. If you care about your mental health you should think twice before applying. Additionally, you may be expected to work while you are on annual leave and in return not be acknowledged as its an expectation.
