- Work can be fulfilling, varied tasks, a lot of autonomy
Cons
- Big on the outside, small on the inside
- Salary is well below industry standard, accounting for comparable industries, education level, YOS, etc...
- Juggling multiple responsibilities and roles well beyond reasonable expectations
- Super human effort (12+ hours/day) and initiative are not rewarded or recognized, and is almost expected
- Burn out. Many PDS and skilled people leaving over the past few years, each serving <= 2 years due to stress. Projects then get handed off to other individuals who are either already over-encumbered or unqualified.
- Limited/few opportunities for advancement or raises
- Low morale
- Little investment in new/better tools/processes or even personnel
