Pros
Nothing. The culture has been destroyed.
Cons
Unnecessary and unsubstantiated changes to remote working dictated and enforced in the upcoming months. Morale is none existent at this point. Senior leadership have been making relentless demands from their ivory tower with no consultation from the rest of the business - making major changes to things that have no impact to them but destroy everything great that Skipton has built over time for the average worker. A huge negative impact across the business for the everyday 9-5 members of staff. Do as I say and not as I do. More pressure, more stress, and less support. Creating unachievable roadmaps resulting in a negative blame game working environment when unrealistic targets are not met. Setting people up to fail. Everybody is worried and anxious. The board has slowly and quietly been replaced by people from corporate backgrounds. Anyone brave enough to challenge the dictatorship is swiftly shown the door and replaced with another supporter of the current board. Skipton has become an echo chamber. Senior leaders describing this as a stepping stone for their careers whilst ensuing chaos across the business and leaving local people who love Skipton and have worked here for many years in despair. These people have no interest or investment in Skipton; it is just the next step on the ladder of their career and I’m sure that they will most likely move on in the not too distant future leaving the business in ruins. There have been so many changes it is difficult to keep track. No time to process the first punch before the next one rains down. Many many many bad decisions. Removal of work from home with no data to support it. No support for working parents. Work life balance is nonexistent. Peakon survey results manipulated to suit whatever leaderships narrative is. Talent are leaving in droves, multiple redundancies, and we are struggling to hire for any gaps as nobody wants to work in a toxic environment that does not have competitive wages when we were once able to compete with our USP of being a good place to work. Morale is on the floor and the once great culture that we were so proud of has eroded and is now awful. A once great place to work is crumbling. The sooner that the current leadership team/board is replaced - the better for employees and our members.
