Approves of CEO

Pros

Great people and a nice atmosphere, good benefits package, great technology and products. The company offers a lot of training opportunities for graduates and they take staff development seriously. The projects are big budget and the work is quite interesting for the most part. It's a good place to start and build a career and a lot of senior people started at the bottom of the business.

Cons

Lots of cost-cutting and smaller budget short-termism in the current environment and lots of "characters" in senior management roles which can leads to bickering.

Advice to Management

Be more visible and accountable

    Doesn't Recommend
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

All employees are entitled to free satellite TV.
There are some innovative people at lower levels but management is highly aggressive and very macho.

    Cons

Macho management with zero communication skills. This comes from the top down so its hard to know whats going on. Many senior managers only talk to their immediate reports ignoring the people they are responsible for.

    Advice to Management

Grow up and learn to communicate with your staff not push them around. Essentially they are very profit focused i.e. making money and increasing the share price is more important than creating a good product although obviously there ar innovations in the sports coverage a lot of the stuff is just tat.

    Pros

Good people and a really good atmosphere (very dependant on your department though).
The christmas parties are awesome, They get held onsite in massive tents and the entertainment is often superb.
There is still a certain amount of scope to get work done without getting bogged down in process.

    Cons

Unlike the early years the company has become very stuck in it's ways as far as business processes go. Having said that it's fairly typical of a large company.
Limited career development outside of certain core areas and accountancy.
IT is solely focused on large project work, only lip service has thus far been paid to dealing with smaller requirements

    Advice to Management

Hire some decent technical advisors, stop relying on consultants to do the job half as well for five times the cost
