I have been working at Ticketmaster full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

- Interesting business to work for with challenging and unique products
- Constantly changing environment means it rarely gets boring
- Good for CV
- Free tickets to festivals and the odd concert
- Occasionally free extra days off work (e.g. over Christmas)
- Young, fun workforce, lots of extracurricular activities
- Flexible approach to work hours and working from home

Cons

- An enormous amount of politics spoils the experience. Increasing complexity of organisational structure has introduced an increasing layer of middle managers and politics within and between the different layers. Professional success at TM seems to become less a matter of competence than of "playing the game".

- Below market rate salary and lack of career development options. While there are some opportunities to develop your career sideways or into the line manager direction, career progression is in practice not actively encouraged or seen as a priority in some departments, and often rely on months of negotiation. This does not foster an environment where an employee feels valued.

- Lack of training opportunities. Getting budget for training or conferences has become virtually impossible, which again causes frustration and an impression that the company is not interested in developing their employees.

- Sometimes seems to lack direction. Priorities are changing daily, half finished work is abandoned in favour of work that arguably has a lesser ROI but has been prioritised by management.

Would still recommend as a career step to gather experience, but would currently not recommend for a long term career (unless your main career goal is line management), or if you want to work in self-empowered teams.

Advice to Management

Start investing in, and trusting in the competence of your employees. This could be a fantastic place to work, if employees felt that they are respected and valued as professionals, and had ample opportunities to develop within the company.

I worked at Ticketmaster full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company tries very hard to make their offices "cool" - good coffee, fruit, a slide. Good work life balance in general. If you get a good manager, not too much micro-management.

    Cons

Often you are doing things to further the politics of your department instead of it having any commercial benefit. People shouting loudly often got better results than something which would save the company money or generate some revenue. Rewards based on tenure rather than achievement (obviously if you are someone who want to stick around, then this might be a pro).

    Advice to Management

Don't just take the word of your direct reports and their reports - I have sat in meetings completely dumb-founded at how easy it was for my manager to lie outright to save their own back!

I have been working at Ticketmaster full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Ticketmaster have created a great work place that motivates and inspires.

    Cons

There aren't many negative points other than low salary, which is the main reason most staff cite as to why they are moving on. The company has lost great talent due to this over the years.
