Little bit info - Server Toast Ale Employee Review

Incredible people - have really felt part of a family whilst working for Toast. Genuinely lovely people, lots of nice social time and incredibly supportive and caring teammates, who feel more like friends than colleagues by now. Autonomy & trust - managers have always let me get on with work. No breathing down necks, just trust that I'll get all my work done (which I always have!). Room for development of skills - I've helped out with pretty much every area of the business during my time at Toast and have learned all sorts of skills I never expected from this role. Lots of delicious beer!

Workload I was shouldering myself was too much at times. This is partly on me for not saying 'no' enough (those also like this at work, you know what I'm talking about). But often there were tasks that no-one else was able to cover and I therefore had to take up to ensure they were completed on time. Sometimes general operations could be quite disorganised and require just graft to get things done. Some of the things I've done for Toast, such as literally crumbing/drying bread for brews in a bakery when things got desperate, definitely weren't in the job description. But that's startup life I guess!

There are so many pro's to working at Toast but my favourites are - Authenticity - we really want to throw a "better party" and everything you see on our website and through the recruitment process about our mission and how we live that day to day is true. - Every day we are working to make Toast and amazing place to work for our Toasters and really care about our people and supporting them - There are so many opportunities to expand your skills and be pushed out of your comfort zone to develop and grow - The attitude to part time/flexible working is amazing! It's fully embraced, not just tolerated

We have just done a fundraising and scaled up the team hugely, so there is a lot of work in progress, particularly around our people and formalisation of people processes. However the upside is that we have great plans and all of our Toasters can influence the direction. We have so much we want to do, and so many ideas on how we can do it, that we have to really prioritise what's important and what we can deliver to ensure a fast growing business, plus really happy people
