Pros

Good salary and benefits, great work-life balance with flexible work options

Cons

There's a noticeable level of office politics and certain team members are more drawn to the UN brand than the actual work. This environment can sometimes result in valuable contributors being overlooked, while those who are more vocal receive additional opportunities, regardless of their output. Leadership could benefit from being more decisive, especially when it comes to addressing issues that revolve around accountability. Concerns were sidestepped to avoid upsetting alleged staff, which prevented important cases from being thoroughly investigated. Ultimately, I left because I was seeking a workplace that values competence, fairness, and shared dedication to the cause. UNICEF has great potential to do justice for children in Malaysia, but it would greatly benefit from a renewed focus on its core mission and an emphasis on fairness and accountability.
