I worked at US Naval Research Laboratory for less than a year

    Pros

I worked with the smartest mechanical engineers I've ever met. We were working on first-of-a-kind systems, and the work was different every day. It gave me experience in hands-on fabrication, assembly, CAD modeling, analytics, the whole engineering research product cycle.

    Cons

Not really accessible by public transportation, and the surrounding neighborhood is somewhat dangerous (the place itself is very safe - it's a military base.)
