There is much to say, but here is the main takeaway.
This is not a meritocratic environment, starting with the "dubious hiring practices" mentioned by a previous poster. Individuals are often hired by the cut of their jawline and how long they can hold a plank rather than the quality and relevance of their experience -- not to mention that the vast majority of employees here are male (there is no diversity here -- check out the website). Many of those who are hired are hand-selected by the CEO himself - often from 'interesting' locations such as the gym or the airport. Those with actual skills and expertise end up leaving for a reason.
Management is incompetent and relies heavily on the a few associates and mid-level people that actually know what they are doing. Decision making is not transparent and, frankly, often idiotic given the fact that some of these people went to ostensibly good schools.
What's the most incredible thing to me is that this company has managed to stay afloat despite expensive and incompetent hires coupled with questionable business development trips abroad by the CEO.
