Pros

Western treats their guides as good as any. They will help you get certified, pay for a lot of your equipment, and even provide housing and some food. The management can get stressed in the middle of the season and expects a lot of the guides, but are willing to adjust things if needed if guides are open with their communication and willing to work hard.

Cons

The hiring and trip schedule can be prone to nepotism.

Pros

working in the most beautiful places in the world! meet great people from all over the world

Cons

management is not transparent about what gets you trips and why. It is frowned on to ask about why you are not getting the trips you want.

Pros

Western is one of the greatest companies to work for as a college student. You have fairly good compensation for a summertime gig, and it's loads of fun. You're working with 50 kids your age, and there's always something going on.

Cons

Anyone that would like to make it a career is very limited. It is a family company, and family are pretty much guaranteed jobs. Also, the company is very top heavy, because they "have" to keep jobs for their family. So, it was a great experience, but there's not room to grow in the company, which is stifling for someone that wants to spread their wings.
