Pros
depending on luck (business unit, line manager, timing) it can be a professional place to get experience in a great industry. Health and safety taken very seriously at any level and any issue - one can apply the learnings to their own personal life. Prestigious company to have on CV (top 4 in the world by revenue)
Cons
Salary grade obsession at all levels. People evaluate you, pay attention to you and respect you according to your salary grade. You are a walking D, E, F, G, H, or I. Not a Sales, Marketing or Finance professional. You will be stuck forever where you join unless you are desperately proactive and unbelievably lucky - especially in UK where is a pent-up demand for career progression and significant colapse in management layers and no new jobs. Final salary pension is the second obsession and churn is very small because of it. People hold on to their job even if they hate it their role, their boss, their colleagues and their salary. Abundance of hypocrites.
