Pros

I think the work is interesting enough and good training if you're trying to get your foot in the door with transcription work. Staff is very responsive and helpful in answering my (many) questions.

Cons

but it's a lot of work for very little pay. I don't have much transcription experience but even if you do and that experience isn't in legal transcription, Very little pay and there's A LOT to learn. To be able to get past the onboarding, you need to spend a lot of time learning their materials but you don't get paid for that time. You only get paid per minute or per page of transcription but I'm having to spend multiple hours a day going over their training materials and it's frustrating to not be paid for my time.

Pros

Remote work you can choose the volume of with realistic deadlines.

Cons

Proofreaders who don’t follow the same rules that scoots are taught to follow. Namely, the transcription rules for each jurisdiction, which are all found on a spreadsheet that is accessible by all employees. I’ve had many instances where I followed the protocol that we are taught to follow but the proofreader marked it as wrong. Frustrating especially since it is my name on the certificate page and not the proofreader’s, who gets the final say in the product presented to the client.
