    A brilliant place to work

May 14, 2020 - Marketing Manager in London, England, England

    Pros

Incredible support within team members and management, a very progressive and supportive Managing Director who cares about change in the industry as well as each individuals development and a real diverse slate of films to work on - quality of the material is much more deeply felt than at other studios

    Cons

You never want to leave because of the comfort of your environment! Sometimes not as challenged as you need to be, though it’s no bad thing really

    Limited career progression

    Pros

Great brands, very collaborative, trying to be more people-focused after a difficult year for all

    Cons

Unfortunately, it’s becoming clear that there is little to no opportunities for growth within the business. Disparities between recent job ads when it comes to years of experience required. Current employees are discouraged from applying.

Exciting, But Not Worthwhile - You'll Make More Money Elsewhere

    Pros

Fast-paced, mostly interesting work. Potential for great co-workers and friendships. Some potential for bragging rights and interesting stories.

    Cons

Extremely low pay - when I moved to a new company I was offered almost double my eOne salary with the same exact title and zero need for negotiation. No bonuses for the average employee, and tiny raises (if anything) on a yearly basis. Fear based environment - people are constantly being laid off, and you never know which day will be your last. It's always in the back of your mind, and even if you're not the one axed in a certain year, it might be all of the best people on your team. It's merciless. You *will* watch people called away, fired in an office somewhere, escorted out, and their manager packing up their desk to give to them in the lobby - sometimes a few, sometimes a whole department, but this happens every single year. Overworked - small teams, high turnover and constant layoffs mean that you'll be wearing many hats, and working many long hours to make up for whatever inexperienced person they hired for the lowest possible salary. Hours are 9-6 at best, and you will likely be watched like a hawk. Depending on your department, you will be "volun-told" to work extra unpaid hours setting up for and working at company events. Overall, I was extremely loyal for many years and it didn't earn much for me. Beware that, outside of the entertainment industry, not many people know what eOne is so it's not going to be your greatest resume asset.

    Pros

Nice office/building. Generous benefits and amenities. Interesting work.

    Cons

Talking down to inferiors. Lack of company and community morale. Lack of training. Expecting too much from new hires. Co-workers and higher-ups constantly spreading gossip and talking negatively about other employees. When the going gets tough, they simply clean house.
