      Typical start-up with some warning signs

      Pros

      Some of the employees are really passionate about their work. Decent benefits, good funding with series C

      Cons

      The CEO and his S-level team try to project as the company has a great work culture but its not really true. There is always secrecy about things happening even for trivial things and there is a culture of fear about sharing frank opinions. Everyone is scared of the top management as many people were fired in the past for having a different opinion. In the name of "intensity", the management basically wants people to work most of the time. They expect employees to work here as "more than a job but less than life"!! Although there are unlimited vacations, any vacation is frowned upon.

      Company Felt Lost When I Was There

      Fairly high turnover rate Unlimited PTO nobody used because it felt stigmatized A lot of burnt out / stressed people Multiple rounds of layoffs in short in a short time period

      Talented Employees Are Disposable if You’re Not Part of the Inner Circle

      • Was allowed to take medical leave. • Opportunities to own meaningful projects early in my role, which I consistently delivered with high impact. • Free lunch (sometimes).

      Cons

      • A clear “boys’ club” culture where male colleagues were promoted, sent to conferences, and given visibility, while women’s contributions were overlooked—unless personal relationships came into play. • Favoritism and blurred professional boundaries heavily influenced promotions and opportunities. • Feedback and recognition were scarce, unless you were part of the inner circle. • My performance was strong, but I was still let go while less-qualified individuals were rewarded. This speaks volumes about the company’s priorities.
