I have been working at Euro Car Parts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Firstly, I believe a lot of the negative reviews are from branch network/driver staff and cannot verify these. My experience is from working at the Tamworth HO, and before I wave of thumbs down, I have not been asked to write, nor do I work for their HR
Having been in my previous position within finance for 8 years, I was apprehensive at first, story's of overworked/underpaid, no rewards.
It is busy, you will need to work hard & be good at what you do, & wont be for everyone. But, if you have come from a similar fast paced environment, can make an impact then results are definitely rewarded.
Progression - previous non-ECP role was relatively static. Here, I experienced progression in first 18 months with discussions of further movement in the near future. To have the ability to play an active part in changing and influencing a company of this size is not something readily available, or that I have been part of previously

If you are into your cars [as I am] then the staff discounts are also great. [Much to the annoyance of my wife!]

    Cons

    Not cons, more considerations:
Busy, high transactional volume & fast paced.
A real need to be able to keep numerous plates spinning at the same time

    Pros

You meet like minded colleagues, who you get along with due to your mutual hatred for the company.
    Good discounts on parts.

    Cons

Forced to cold call customers. Forced to use pressure tactics to push sales. Forced to call customers to discuss this weeks 50+ different sales promotions. Managers will sell you down the river. Managers backstab everyone- foot soldier staff, fellow branch managers, their own managers. It's a toxic atmosphere and isn't worth your mental health/happiness. The goalposts for the bonuses always seem to get moved just as your about to achieve them, funny that! There are too many exceptions made that make company policies redundant. A real glass door approach to retaining staff, one experienced member leaves and gets replaced by someone with no motor industry knowledge. The company sources managers from outside the business- why not promote from within, using employees who know the systems and procedures, rather than getting in a spineless branch manager who has to bend over backwards to make the customer happy because they are unaware of how the industry works. If a part goes missing, you can expect your vehicle to be searched because it's supposedly "in your contract", even though it's against the law and only a police officer with a warrant has a legal right to search your car.

    Advice to Management

Stop focusing on targets, and focus on your employees. A happy staff member will sell a lot more, than an unhappy staff member that's being forced to upsell.

I have been working at Euro Car Parts full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Discounts on parts, very limited employee benefit scheme which has the essence of food vouchers about it.

    Cons

No Managerial benefits worth mentioning (healthcare etc)

Poor bonus structure geared for failure in compliance or failure in branch sales.

Total lack of support with regards to staffing.

Recruiters get paid when the branch does all the work to recruit a new member of staff, anything below a sales advisor regarded as pond life. Some sales people on similar salaries to managers, with managers to frightened to lose them for a fear of dropping in sales and difficulty recruiting someone new.

Zero thought on London branches with regards to recruitment (same salaries as the rest of the country)

    NO LONDON WAITING

Completely failing from logistics and stock management.

You won't ever get a real lunch break.

Never enough staff to perform day to day tasks.

No contingency for staff shortages, regular recruitment freezes.

    Advice to Management

Time to start investing in London branches as well as raising the salaries.

Current logistics are terrible and no thought has gone into the impact of the new system locally at the branches. it has helped the NDC and wreaked havoc on the local sites.

This is causing low moral for a majority of low paid employees, not good for a business that relies on these core members of staff.

Recruitment freezes, with sites that barely have any staff... during the summer holiday season?

Managers will leave the business under these conditions and successful business are only successful with consistency in the management teams.
