Pros

The team is collaborative, helpful and knowledgeable.

Cons

The interview process lasted longer than my employment with Everdays. I was contacted by Everdays as a potential candidate for an open position. I was gainfully employed at the time, but open to other opportunities. There was a rigorous interview process, which consisted of one phone interview and four video interviews. In addition to providing a portfolio of work and three references. One of the video interviews was with the CEO where he admittedly was “testing” me. Upon my first in-person interaction with the CEO he stated he was happy I decided to take the job despite his actions. All future interactions with the CEO were positive; including a Slack comment that was posted the day before I was fired stating he was excited to have me as part of the team. I received positive feedback from my counterparts and superiors. Therefore, I was blindsided by their decision to fire me after only three and a half weeks of employment. One of those three weeks was the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. This left me in a dire position, especially since no severance pay was offered. I feel duped because I left behind a good job with benefits to work for Everdays based on their presentation of the job, company, and culture, which do not align with their actions.

Perfect for some, not for most.

Pros

Cool office, provided parking, free coffee and snacks, macs, startup

Cons

Cult like workplace. HR isn't the place to go for complaints. No respect for personal lives of employees. Low vacation allowance. Low employee retention rate. Poor staffing means working depts to the bone. CEO is emotionally charged -- has sworn and yelled at employees within earshot of most teams.

Toxic Workplace - Avoid

Pros

The team is absolutely brilliant and are adept at navigating the whims of a leader who's only out for himself. They're also exceptionally underutilized. You'll do great if you are willing to take direction for your every move and willing to just complete the vision of leadership.

Cons

Do you value a culture of mutual respect, trust, work-life balance, and any semblance of autonomy? Look elsewhere. During my tenure at Everdays, I was exposed to an extremely toxic workplace that honestly affected my self worth as a human. The organization operates in fear of the CEO who is very verbally abusive and angry. Often hard to reach during the workday but wanting to be involved in even micro-decisions, the team would work nights and weekends at the whim and convenience of one person. Unfortunately, the family obligations I missed I cannot get back. The team is absolutely brilliant. They’re also exceptionally underutilized. When presenting information and concepts, the team would worry much more about delivery and presenting it when the mood was right, rather than moving the business forward. All have developed high EQ. As a personal example, I was often interrupted to tell me that I wasn’t trusted (thought brought on to impart expertise in my subject matter area). I was not even trusted with extremely low level tasks without his involvement (so would need to meet evenings and weekends to get his blessing). This to me reflects an exceptional disregard for people's talents and personal time. During the interview process, I was promised the opportunity to be an expert in my area, and offer what I learned over the course of my career back to a new, growing business. None of that ended up being true. Fool's gold. The way it's being run, this company will not be successful. The CEO, however, will move on to a new venture. I would caution anyone reading from working for him. He is only out for himself and leaves a wake of folks who are exceptionally talented but now have a low self worth from how they were treated.
