Pros

Large accounts and implemented a unique loyalty based platform Enterprise level software development and the ability to try new and interesting technologies Individual teams were pleasant to work with Downtown upstart atmosphere and close to major transportation

Cons

Was brought on for a team lead position and was immediately thrown into the fire on Day 1. Plenty of finger pointing and blame was made to lower level staff when there was even a slight issue.

Out of touch

Pros

At the time of employment, some of the people working there were friendly and helpful. A few managers were a pleasure to work under or with.

Cons

- Leadership was either ignorant or willfully turning a blind eye to long-term employees that are incompetent, but have no issues getting rid of recent hires that are underperforming or those that they don't like - HR and leadership were extremely out of touch with employees and fostered a very negative relationship. Pushing surveys constantly to feel the "pulse", but most employees were too fed up to answer honestly. - The company turned a blind eye to managers or leadership that create a toxic environment for their team. - Compensation is WELL below the industry average across the board, but the company was never willing to increase compensation by much. Instead, a lot of the work had been sent off-shore because those resources were much cheaper and managers were forced to manage the off-shore resources during off-hours. Basically, zero appreciation was shown by the company to its employees. - The engineering team is probably close to or above 50% off-shore and there were plans to increase that number - The company also refused to embrace UX design and front end development work, both were always an afterthought despite the efforts of the people actually doing the work. - Project management was always very questionable and always over promised on deliverables and deadlines just to sell to the client with next to no communication with the engineering team on whether it was feasible or not. When it did happen that the engineering team gives estimates, they were told that they had a date in mind already and urged to reduce the estimates. Business and sales teams needed to learn to say no to clients instead of their own teams in house. - The company has all its eggs in one basket (client) and if that client ever got wise that the work being done can be done in-house for better quality instead, then there goes approximately 60% of revenue. - There were more managers than reports and the company structure is very vertical. People managers have 1 report maximum most of the time and job titles for executive and leadership were seemingly handed out just for the sake of a promotion. - Next to zero growth opportunities unless you wish to become a manager - Mental health and well being were not priotized. When employees were on short-term leave due to health or well being, the company did not try to help or even reach out unless that employee was part of the "in" crowd. Some employees had to take short term leaves often for mental health due to toxicity at the workplace caused by the same people every time.

Pros

-Informal culture and lack of corporate/bureaucratic hierarchy -Organizational appetite for change - good example is our renewed focus on discipline in new business development pursuits -Commitment to a data-driven business model that adds real value for clients -Full of smart people who want to do the right thing for each other, for the company and for our clients

Cons

-We've struggled to grow/scale at the pace we want to, (but we're getting there) -We can make it a more of a priority to ensure our managers and teams don't allow our best people to burn out when others aren't pulling their weight
