I have been working at Exelon full-time

    Pros

    Good pay and decent benefits,

    Cons

Shift work, treated like a number instead of an actual human being, everyone is encouraged to get other employees in trouble, and supervisors are given a quota for negative write-ups on subordinates.

    Advice to Management

Stop creating an atmosphere of negativity. Also when reporting something to the HR department they shouldn’t be calling up your management and name dropping who just called and what they complained about.

    Pros

    Good benefits overall. Good structure

    Cons

Nothing much I can think of.

  7. "Difficult promotions"

I have been working at Exelon full-time

    Pros

High bonus structure but each level is dramatically above you, further separating you from superiors

    Cons

Promotions are a fight amongst peers and require a vacated seat about you. Hard to get promoted at current role without a vacancy above you. Only way this happens is with an external job offer.

    Advice to Management

    Just keep it up

I have been working at Exelon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Stable, acceptable work hours for pay, reputable company, excellent benefits

    Cons

Growth opportunities are defined by the whims of department heads - not by an objective, transparent set of metrics. HR is not culturally available to employees- always feels like employees are sticking their neck out and causing trouble for management if they raise an issue with HR.

    Advice to Management

    Culture sucks. Hire better managers.

I have been working at Exelon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay, pay, pay; Culture; Diversity and inclusion; great potential to grow personally and professionally; Jon security is a non issue, they very rarely lay off or terminate employees; huge emphasis on safety; The company invests a lot in its work force: any training you can imagine from leadership, to negotiating, etc. Most departments are very well resourced. Overtime is plentiful in busy departments.

    Cons

Rigid leadership from director level and above. Some departments are not overworked so have challenges like being clique-ey, other departments (mine) are very very busy and employees need to work 50+ hrs a week to stay on top of workload. Innovation is sorely needed, and although senior leadership understands this and are vocal about supporting it somewhere along the line the execution falls apart. Instead of the vertical management model, there needs to be a lot more of horizontal structure, with the highest level executives working in the trenches with individual contributers and owning innovation initiatives.

    Advice to Management

More horizontal leadership structure is needed. Base pay should be increased for those with high volume of work. There are dozens of software systems we work on, there is a sore need to streamline and invest in technology that enhances communication between all software systems.
