I have been working at ExxonMobil full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Pays above average - Good benefits package - Multicultural environment

    Cons

The main complain for sure is with (some) people in management positions. My former boss was great to promote accomplishments made by subordinates, but was weak to help others that were not doing so great. Instead of helping them to solve their problems and guide them through, fire them is the way out. And lots of managers do that in the company.

    Advice to Management

Choose better your people for management and senior positions - empathy is good for everybody.

I have been working at ExxonMobil full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Very good benefits package; Some teams are beginning to use agile methodologies, which is very good; Company invests on employee with training, ergonomics equipment;

    Cons

Ranking process is very individually driven, causing employees to stab each other in the back or create schemas to move up on their careers; No big challenges on the software development side Everything takes a lot of time to change Innovation is difficult when one has to get a lot of approvals and the approvers may not understanding the technical impact of such innovation

I have been working at ExxonMobil full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They are really concerned about everyone's safety, wellness and work-life balance. Is not so difficult to travel across the offices.

    Cons

No career path for developers, if you want the best opportunities you need to move to the business side. Salary is based on your age, years on the company, family size and the least important is your performance, so don't expect a fair salary progression.

I have been working at ExxonMobil full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good salary, there is some physical exercise ritual like in Japan, very worried about your ergonomics, stability.

    Cons

Everything must be audited because Exxon is scared of losing it's trade secrets so it takes a while for getting up to speed with new technologies. There are entire departments that could be replaced with a few people if they were allowed working with new technologies.

    Advice to Management

I don't know if being scared takes as much resources as keeping it's trade secrets but they might be doing the right thing for them.

I have been working at ExxonMobil full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Flexible working hours, no long hours, can work from home, frequent business travells for those who want, easy to come back from maternity leave.

    Cons

No social life, due to the rotation a few experts, who are doing the same job more than 5 years are overloaded and cannot help to the new hires, fluctuation is high.

    Advice to Management

Supervisors should focuse more on the real work, what happens in their team, not only the strategies.
