I have been working at ExxonMobil for more than 8 years

    Pros

Subsidised lunches and nice corporate office.

    Cons

If you're white, male and American you will do well in Exxon provided you're popular and an efficient brown noser. Ok salary, very flat organisation, process orientated environment. Not a dynamic environment at all. No bonuses, flawed ranking system. Company doesn't encourage innovation or thinking out side the box. You are an Exxon robot. Do not join as a graduate. Promises...

I have been working at ExxonMobil full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - good salary+ several benefits (health insurance, commuting allowance, pension) - good training program - World wide opportunities

    Cons

    - ranking system which determines everything: wage, job opportunities - company decides which job you need to do next - colleagues are sometimes more competitors

    Advice to Management

    Abolsih the ranking system!

I worked at ExxonMobil full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Wide range of jobs and learning opportunities, many working with leading-edge technology; increasingly diverse and inclusive, great retirement/savings plans.

    Cons

BIG company, pretty competitive internal ranking system, some employee benefits lag competition but this is improving significantly.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work on inclusiveness and truly understanding perspectives that differ from your own. Keep finding ways to engage the younger employees and get their ideas and suggestions. Employees will respond positively and company performance will benefit.

I have been working at ExxonMobil full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

High integrity, good benefits, travel and international opportunities, rapidly increasing responsibility, very capable colleagues

    Cons

mature industry, top down management approach, inward focus, decisions can be overly political, forced ranking system

    Advice to Management

Continue CEOs current 2025 vision and continue to deploy working level visions for each group. Increase flexibility on policies and reform ranking system.

I have been working at ExxonMobil full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Benefits, international work, possible global travel

    Cons

If you are in GSC and if you don't have an engineering degree, expect to see very minimal salary adjustment the longer you stay. In GSC, a service company, you will be on the lowest salary curve (C curve) compared to A and B curves in 'money making' companies within EM. Don't expect much recognition either, since you are not considered as a business value driving organization. During the downturn, management kept...

    Advice to Management

Get people who know how to manage in management. Improve the ranking system Actually punish people who are hostile and have serious track records of HR violations/complaints Get out of the past and compensate and rank people like the rest of the industry

  9. "Great Benefits, Not Great Work Life Balance"

    StarStarStarStarStar
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    I worked at ExxonMobil full-time

    Pros

Good compensation, incredible benefits, challenging projects and work

    Cons

Poor work life balance, combined with the expectation to move every few years (at least for the side of the business I worked in). Competitive environment due to the forced ranking system

I have been working at ExxonMobil full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

-competitive starting pay -great 401k matching (7%), great pension for those that stay 15+ years -generally high caliber of coworkers -good flexibility for families -easy to coast through a long career with minimal work effort

    Cons

    - years of managers gaming the ranking system with all the retiring employees has led to 80% of people in the "middle 1/3rd" grouping and 5-10% of people are in the "top 20%" -the only ranking that really matters is your very first one at year 2, all future reviews only result in small movements, and only if your manager has "points to give"

    Advice to Management

-you have a serious morale problem, even among middle and top performers -while Darren Woods probably is undercompensated relative to other CEO's, don't expect anything but apathy and sarcasm from employees
