I worked at ExxonMobil full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Benefits are more than generous Potential for career growth is massive Multiple training courses/modules, although some are mandatory and unnecessary

    Cons

Work environment can be unhealthy and unpleasant Expectation is that all employees will work far in excess of contracted hours

    Advice to Management

Understand the expectation set on employees vs the amount of working hours available Focus more on those who provide great results for the business rather than those who shout about them

      I worked at ExxonMobil

      Pros

-Good work / life balance -Given responsibility early on in the role

      Cons

-Demoralising work environment -Unpleasant blame culture -Much of the work should have been done by admin staff -Very little / no focus on long term investment in interns

      Advice to Management

Focus on allowing interns to grow as engineers, rather than dumping them with whatever work needs to be done. Very little / no focus on long term investment in interns

I have been working at ExxonMobil full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Excellent growing experience. The largest projects and world class processes, with early on responsiblities. Good working environment and working hours. You are changed around roles very fast, which is a pro but also a con since some roles will invariably not suit you. If you're a creative person, chances are you will impress people since most employees are the "very thorough/soldier/family guy" types.

      Cons

Working in such a large corporation, bureaucracy is a heavy burden. A lot of people get overzealous trying to promote Safety and Controls at the expense of more value-adding activities. Commercially quite risk-adverse.

      Advice to Management

Don't let overzealous employees burden your teams with excessive back office and controls/safety. While OPEX pressure is good, if you claim to be the best in the world you still have to send young people on expat assignments.

        I worked at ExxonMobil full-time

        Pros

Great work culture fostering good relationships. Good resource available to carry out your work - expertise, equipment, knowledge. Challenging work environment

        Cons

Bureaucratic and tons of paperwork to wade through though this is understandable for a mega MNC who is highly scrutinised everywhere. Politicking skills highly essentially to do well

        Advice to Management

Keep up the good work although I understand there is not much freedom to do so, try to innovate on staff welfare and perks.

I have been working at ExxonMobil full-time for less than a year

        Pros

Excellent work environment and nice people, opportunities to learn and there are decent benefits as is standard in Czech.

        Cons

There is no room to grow or advance and the job is suffocated in procedures and red tape. There are a lot of redundancies and employees who don’t do great work.

        Advice to Management

Create more autonomy. Improve the onboard information process. Accurately describe positions to candidates. Screen for personality fit. Be honest about the job. bureaucracy - and 8 hours of sitting in front of a computer
