    Advice to Management

    Managers need to support their supervisors, not use them as scape-goats for why they are failing to meeting their yearly goals. UAW relations appear to be at an all time low, desimating morale. Situational awareness, insight, and logical decision making all need to improve, dramatically. Corporate, HR, and Engineering need to experience, or better yet work, the floor to fully understand how their "initiatives"... effect those who will have to live with it daily. A culture of negativity has spawned and grown. Career opportunities will begin to open up as baby-boomers retire. But beware of the unnoticeable nepotism.

    Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly people. Company car

    Cons

    Really disorganised unprofessional place. Trainings awful, departments are short staffed causing a lot of work load on the workers causing a lot of unnecessary stress. Lots of favoritism in the company. Doesn't matter how hard you work doesn't get appreciated and no career progression available. No pay raises. Unfair expectations of working overtime due to them not hiring enough workers. Not a lot of structure or... communication in departments which makes work life very frustrating. No work/life balance.

    Iconic brands and products Big company but can have input Ability to gain exposure to a lot of areas (good for people who want to learn more)

    Cons

    HQ Turin control everything, no autonomy and you have to work around what they want. The UK company is dictated by Turin despite them not having the expertise of the UK market as local management would. In contrast to the exposure gained, you don't get any increase for more responsibility unless you change grade and even that needs to be agreed by Turin. The company has a policy not to increase salaries for... "sideways" moves even if its higher responsibility or due to past performance. In some cases, they won't increase even if you've increased bands for a while. This is completely hypocritical of the CEO saying the company is a meritocracy. No inflationary pay rises unless it's a legal requirement in the country. The company will quite happily not increase pay, let staff leave and pay someone new with less/similar experience and pay more and an agency fee. The policy centrally seems that they'll wait until someone is so frustrated and resigns or is very close to before they'll acknowledge it centrally and consider doing anything. There's a lot of internal politics in the company and certain employes are favoritised for everything and their team has to put up with it. This results in highly talented individuals leaving the company due to the favourite employees calling the shots. I've witnessed countless highly talented people leave the business due to these people preventing development for people who could make the difference. Very reactionary business and everything is done after the market (e.g. one of the last companies to bring in an SUV). Everything is requested last minute and needed in the past but never communicated until later. Mostly from Italy HQ although that culture imprints to UK Management. A lot of subsidiaries in the structure who are working against each other rather than in collaboration. Limited progression and internal opportunities not really communicated (unless you're Italian) which causes a lot of people to leave after 2-3 years.

    Advice to Management

    Invest in staff, there's no point recruiting constantly for reasons that are easily fixable. In the UK, there is a high level of employee resignations due to policies forced upon by Italy which are not compatible with the UK market. Unlike in Italy, people in the UK will leave if salaries aren't increased or you don't provide opportunities for progression. As a result, you will only have un-marketable employees... remaining who are happy to stagnate in roles and won't innovate. Scrap the PLM appraisal system. It's designed only for the benefit of the global senior management to identify what they deem to be potential talent. It doesn't work for 99% of the business and feels like a box ticking exercise. It needs to be a two way system which motivates employees and managers to challenge themselves and do better in order to make the company a true meritocracy. The company has all the resources to be a world leader, however stubborn management and not appreciating differences in local markets are the downfall of this company.
