I have been working at FDM Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Exposure to big companies and big projects. Good salary after when you start 3rd year. FDM don't bother you much when your onsite with a client. Trainers are very helpful and approachable If your lucky and get placed with a good client during training or just after training you will enjoy your experience. If you have to wait 90 days or don't get placed at all its a different story. FDM increased salaries last year...

    Cons

Very corporate (especially the sales team). Feels like they blackball you for other jobs after bad interviews. The threat of having to pay £20,000 training fee if you want to leave. Will always take the clients side if you have problems with onsite managers. Being beached after leaving a client as your salary will drop to a basic rate and you will be depressed whilst wait for a new placement. You have to be UK flexible...

I worked at FDM Group for more than a year

    Pros

There are no pros working here. The least professional company I have worked for. You will learn nothing apart from a few SQL queries working here and will never be taken seriously.

    Cons

No matter what training scheme you choose (whether it be BA, Developer, Tester etc), they will never place you with a client in that role. The role is 99% an admin role where you will learn nothing relevant to your training stream. Extremely poor pay, no company benefits. When you are not placed with a client, you are sitting in the pond learning nothing and waiting for an account manager to get in touch with...

    Advice to Management

The management completely isolate themselves from their consultants. It is a place to work if you have no future aspirations.

I have been working at FDM Group for more than a year

    Pros

    There are some good clients

    Cons

Account managers who find you jobs are rarely helpful, training isnt very good and trainers are there more for an income rather than an affinity to teach. YOu have no say in where you get placed and if you get places outside of london, you wont get any extra financial help for accomodation

I worked at FDM Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Could get you through the door with some good companies -COULD be a good kick start to a career

    Cons

-It's very much pot luck - if you don't end up with a decent placement, that could easily be you stuck for 2 years doing rubbish work, no matter what you do -If you're on site bringing in money for the company, they're not interested in whether or not you're doing the right type of work -Very poor company culture, treating employees like kids and only responding to queries when they have something to gain -The contract...

    Advice to Management

Main thing is to ensure people out on site are doing the right type of work, not ignoring them when they tell you, just because they're bringing money in

I have been working at FDM Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Opens doors for organisations that you would not necessarily get interviews for. Help you write a good C.V.

    Cons

FDM is essentially a glorified recruitment company. Whilst the teachers are great and give off the impression they're the only ones who care, the training is nowhere near the value that they place on it with the agreement. Once you're through your training, the likelihood is you will be stuck in 'the pond', an area for employees without a placement yet. There is nothing to do in the pond and it is very much a case of...

"Class A training, wide range of clients, and is an excellent way to enter the IT industry - at a cost"

I have been working at FDM Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Lots of training available Supportive trainers Pays for certifications Whilst training, you get your travel costs to the academy subsidised

    Cons

The salespeople are typical recruiters - at times can be very difficult to reach, sometimes do not bother giving feedback regarding interviews and put you forward for roles that you have not been trained to do whatsoever (a recruiter tactic) Once placed on site, you are binded to a 2 year contract and cannot leave without incurring high levels of costs

    Advice to Management

The business model works well and the training is great. However, I believe that the salespeople's agenda must include an apportioned amount of time to give one-on-one feedback to the trainees they put forward for one of their roles. This would allow trainees to better prepare for their next interview.
