Pros

Virtually no micromanagement under I.T. leadership. Show that you can be trusted to run a project and you will be given full support. Mistakes are absolutely tolerated as long as there are clear lessons learned and communicated. Tons of room to make real impact in the company. Budget available within team for personal career development. Team is very open to new ideas and everyone is encouraged to chime in during meetings. Peers were great to work with. Work hard / play hard type attitude and flexible with existing staff. Way ahead of even typical tech startups in terms of technology being deployed. Can't really beat the work/life balance. It was great here.

Cons

Some challenges in getting various staff to adopt to new technologies but that's expected in any company really. As long as the I.T. staff continue to be active listeners and move forward with deployments in small iterations, I have no doubt their implementations & upgrades will continue to assist with moving company forward.

Pros

The work hours are flexible , work from home days, location and great colleagues

Cons

Absolutely no growth. Once your in a position that is it. Do not expect to move forward. Even when you try, management will bring you back down. Specifically for the Professional Liability Investigator (PLI) and Investigative Associates (IA). You are given so much work and no gratitude is shown towards you. Managers are disrespectful and will yell at you/send you belittling emails. The IA salary is baffling for NYC and they do so much work....RUN! It is not worth it. The IA's should be praised by the amount of work they do but instead they are unnoticed and SEVERELY underpaid. The PLI are given cases to investigate that truly do not need to be. They are given unreasonable deadlines and are often given cases that are classified as "urgent". Both groups are overworked and unappreciated. If you bring the underpaid salary to the attention of HR, they'll disregard you and pretend the conversation never happened. HR does nothing to better management.....it's a continuous cycle of the same thing. We appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback about the Claim Department. We’re sorry to hear that you feel you had such a poor experience during your time with us. The PLI’s and IA’s are Union positions and HR must follow the collective bargaining agreement in regards to salaries and other protocol. As far as cases go, all PLI’s are given cases that need to be investigated. Regardless of how insignificant they may seem, each case is equally important and needs to be treated as such. Some will inevitably be more exciting than others. We are continually striving to improve staff appreciation initiatives and work with individual managers to coach them on how to best work with their teams. New avenues for growth are being created more regularly, as well.

Pros

Most of the people are nice. Convenient location from mass transit.

Cons

The positions are locked in; no room for growth. Many superiors and executives are arrogant. Stress level high. Salaries are below the norm but benefits good. If you are hired, put in 6 months and try to get out.
