I worked at Financial Conduct Authority full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Interesting work, nice people, genuinely enjoyed my time there.

Enforcement and Market Oversight seems to be the best place for paralegals to get some legal experience!

    Cons

Low base salary and difficult progression if you’re not placed in the right team at the outset. Management has changed so hopefully for the best in terms of giving opportunities to younger employees

I worked at Financial Conduct Authority as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

I was very impressed by the level of professionalism, quality of training (and continuous training - including led by juniors), atmosphere and the desire to put the customer first.

    Cons

There was one part of the training - on financials - that was not so well delivered but I cannot think of any other cons.

    Advice to Management

    None

I have been working at Financial Conduct Authority as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Great exposure to work, individual responsibility from day 1, opportunities to contribute to wider organisational aims and mission statement. Supportive work environment and individuals from huge variety of backgrounds. Excellent diversity and LGBT policies. Flexible working.

    Cons

Salary is not commensurate to private practice. Very few promotional opportunities within organisation - reliance on secondments and lateral moves rather than upwards progression. Organisation currently undergoing large internal review and individuals regularly have to adopt and quickly adjust to new working practices and culture.
