I worked at Financial Ombudsman Service full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Colleagues Location - near DLR and ten mins from tube. Nice looking offices

    Cons

Total lack of leadership It had a badly outdated CRM system and replaced it with an even worse one, at a cost of millions! People’s sanity is genuinely threatened by the terrible new system. Offices too warm. Very low morale. Rudderless ship. Lions led by donkeys.

I have been working at Financial Ombudsman Service part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great benefits, great focus on well being and positive mental health, flexible working and home working

    Cons

Team Manager's are overpaid for the work they do which is quite frustrating to work under

I have been working at Financial Ombudsman Service for less than a year

    Pros

Day rate and core hours are okay

    Cons

Focussed on numbers rather than providing a good service and quality investigations to consumers Can involve long hours if you struggle to meet targets which become more and more difficult to meet. No genuine care towards contract staff from senior management.

I worked at Financial Ombudsman Service full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Let's be honest, who comes on here to read about the pros.

    Cons

Wayman and her cronies have downgraded this company from a well respected firm to a second rate call-centre. There's only one thing that matters here more than meeting your target and that's meeting your target. Most of the so-called managers are out of their depth, having a skill set consisting mostly of quoting the FOS rule book and putting people on performance improvement plans. Glad I took the redundancy.

I worked at Financial Ombudsman Service full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

People, facilities, gym, cafe, that's it...

    Cons

Too many to mention - mainly the ceo, exec team and senior management are the problem. The way this organisation has regressed since caroline wayman took over is alarming. Who would decide to implement a restructure when the organisation was managing cases very efficiently already?! The queues and standards get worse each month, some THREE YEARS after the restructure started. Until the contingency fund is spent though the board and exec team will continue to cover their tracks. They are running the organisation into the ground. They have just pushed out 150 of their most experienced / valuable staff without batting an eyelid - nothing makes sense there anymore.

I have been working at Financial Ombudsman Service full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great colleagues to work with and good benefits

    Cons

Lack of consistency in management applying rules or HR guidelines mean staff treatment can be fair or entirely unfair and appalling. Very poor communication of process changes which affect your day to day job.
