I worked at Financial Ombudsman Service full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Very generous benefit Flexi time

    Cons

I have never been in an organization where there has been so much micromanagement and such little faith in employees. It was a toxic environment working as an adjudicator in PPI. I recall one occasion where adudicators had to get their questions for senior staff visiting the nect day vetted by managers!! That's reminiscent of my primary school days. Bullying by management is also pervasive - as was reflected in the employee survey where 15% of the org considered they were bullied in the workplace. Got instance, certain managers in the Y900 division would class very trivial issues as a 'risk and impact ' in quality checks and get people in a PIP where it's completely unwarranted.

I worked at Financial Ombudsman Service for less than a year

    Pros

The rest of the team excluding the TM who was a joke

    Cons

Two weeks of intense classroom training. 15 minutes of training on the package you'll be using everyday. Zero tolerance when working on live cases you get a fail for splitting the date over two lines or the name of an organisation over two line. Absolute joke. QA team and the majority of staff treat you as though you're stuck to the bottom of their shoe - that is when they do speak to you. Counter productive organisation who have no competition and so do not have to fight for a revenue stream because it costs what it costs, therefore no incentive not to keep the costs down. A one star was the lowest option I had to rate them.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Financial Ombudsman Service full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Sadly there are no longer any pros for working in this badly run organization

    Cons

Due to bad decisions made by upper management we are now undergoing a massive restructure. Nobody knows what they are doing. The CEO in her infinite wisdom arranges a managers away day in a plush venue, to tell them about our massive deficit budget, which is getting bigger by the day. We can't sort our own problems out so what chance do consumers have!!
