Started off really amazing but they make reckless decisions for a startup

Pros

My initial time there was amazing. The culture started out amazing but quickly went downhill when communication from leadership became very poor with role shifts.

Cons

I was originally hired for a different position but after a huge (and very sudden) departmental layoff, I was transitioned into a new role, which I had no problem doing as I loved the new role. I should have seen this, but a huge red flag was that I was skipped over for performance evals with this role change so I missed the opportunity for a pay raise because they were redoing their performance evaluation process. A few months after they had completed their new eval process, they alerted us that they unfortunately were not giving pay raises once again because of budget reasons. So there I was, working more hours and completing more challenging tasks with no change in my pay. I was actually paying more, because when I shifted into the new role my health insurance changed and was higher. We had so many meetings about our goals for the future and how we were going to get there. We all thought we knew how we were contributing to this vision. However, after roughly 8 months into the new role, I had a calendar invite titled "your departure from Found" followed by an email saying they were shifting their ideas and where they wanted to go. It was so sudden and completely out of nowhere. I, along with roughly 15 other individuals were let go that day.

Pros

- The original senior leadership team was amazing, thoughtful, innovative, intelligent, and hard-working - Helping people lose weight who have struggled with it in the past was a great bonus - Pay was top-notch for my role - Flexible schedule - Original senior leaders would listen to the experts in their fields and execute on their recommendations - Really amazing and hardworking colleagues - Meetings were entertaining and informative (pre-layoffs)

Cons

- Multiple layoffs within a few months had everyone on edge and fighting for their job (some people were laid off just weeks after being hired) - Teams got pillaged during layoffs, leaving middle managers with no subordinates to perform the necessary work, and then they frown upon those managers because their numbers slip despite their hard work to keep the number as high as possible - New senior leadership is utterly clueless. They have no idea who does what on their teams, which roles are critical for growth, and which are expendable - Treating workers as if they are stealing time from the company - Transitioning into the same space that led their direct competitors nearly into bankruptcy, despite repeated advice from experts not to go down this path and weather the storm as a traditional B2C company - New leadership ignores recommendations from experts on their teams, then steals their ideas months later, claiming them as their own and terminating the one who originally recommended the updates - Severely flawed financially and attempting to raise money through VC funding yet again, despite being leveraged to the hilt already - New leadership lacks any vision and refuses to step away from current processes to explore other areas to help the business grow

Pros

I had some amazing coworkers. At the beginning of my time there, we were encouraged to bring forward problems and ideas.

Cons

Speaking up to highlight system errors/ inefficacies/ opportunities for improvement is discouraged (had my wrist slapped for doing this and eventually learned to just keep quiet). Over time, any avenues for bringing forward ideas were shut down. The Health Coaching organization is run by people who are not Health Coaches and the Health Coaching program was designed by people who are not Health Coaches. There is a huge disconnect between what leadership thinks Health Coaching is, and what Health Coaching actually is. Continually prodding clients to log their daily habits in an app is pretty much the opposite of what Health Coaches are trained to do. Many "health coaches" on the team have not had any training or certification in health coaching.
