Pros

The salary is competitive and the new London office is luxurious.

Cons

Management masterfully curate their communications to put themselves in a good light – but they are completely out of touch with the reality of the work. The expectation is also that you will give up your work-life balance and accept working overtime with no compensation. They also overpromise delivery with their clients which then forces employees to rush through work and stretch skillsets, which in term means the quality of the production is generally not great.

Pros

I got exposure to different and interesting clients and jobs. Most of the team were wonderful people, friendly and helpful. For people who want to excel quickly, this can be a good place to move up the ranks fast - but at a cost.

Cons

Career opportunities: yes, to an extend. I've seen other people move up fast but in the end not be allowed to actually make decisions. It's a lot about internal politics and your talent manager. I think the best path is to go from entry level to mid-senior and then move elsewhere, where career plans are actually implemented and there's a willingness from the leadership team to support you in your career. Compensation: good, it's the biggest reason people stay. Culture & values: Some of the team truly live by values like inclusion and care for one another. At the end of the day though the leadership makes decisions based on money. I've witnessed this over the past 3 years with great people being pushed out of the business. Diversity & Inclusion: Again, some people practice this, but it's mostly a wish. Dare I say it's a marketing tactic? Work/life balance: In every job there are ups and downs but my impression and experience was that even though a work-life-balance is praised on paper, in practice, the expectation is "consultancy means overtime". Unfortunately the significant part of the leadership is still clinging on to an old-school mindset, forgetting that the new generation is not wanting to follow in their footsteps.

Pros

Fourtold brings together people from different backgrounds and nationalities but with shared values. We work with interesting clients - big names that belie our relatively small (but growing) size. The work is varied - mostly at the intersection of policy and communications - and focussed to a large extent on supporting those who are using science and technology to address global sustainability challenges. We are also growing our client base among governments and international organisations. There are plenty of opportunities for professional development and career progression, with dedicated resources to wellbeing, training, and learning. You get to work with people across three office locations (Oxford, London, Brussels) as well as colleagues working remotely from other countries. You will also work alongside senior management on a daily basis. The benefits are excellent and constantly developing. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Fourtold so far and am excited for what is to come.

Cons

As with all consultancies, there is always work to be done. But while this provides ample opportunity for individuals to demonstrate their ability and to progress in their careers, Fourtold is very dedicated to the wellbeing and work-life balance of its staff, and resources accordingly.
