I have been working at Franklin Covey full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The content is really powerful and helps clients achieve success when implemented well. We have really good people who are passionate about our mission.

    Cons

A terrible compensation plan where the organisation "lends" you your salary (which isn't competitive to start with) and then you have to sell enough to cover your salary. If you don't you owe the company money which is then recovered from you when you do sell. It is so demoralising when you sell $100k in a month and earn NO commission because you missed other months targets. The targets are unrealistic, a double whammy. Most people are missing their goals yet the organisation celebrates success because we are still achieving growth and they aren't paying any commission on already high margin business. Interestingly the senior leadership are rewarded on margin, not revenue so you have the crass situation where the top bosses are winning whilst the sales force isn't. I am seriously considering other options, which is a shame because the company could address this with a sensible competitive compensation scheme. Would I take a commission only job?(which this is in all but name) no way, and not many others would either. This wasn't the scheme I had when I joined and have endured 2 years now of earning my base salary which is less than half my stated OTE.
