Many times I have had people lie to my face.
Everyone wants to impress the boss and the million or so middle managers will gladly throw you under the bus if they look incompetent for a second. These guys don’t know how to run a company. Boss does, but is too busy so has to delegate.
Honestly neil is the glue who keeps everyone together, which could be a bad thing too as he has to spend time managing the relationships. He is very hard working and down to earth, a quality that's hard to find with lot of founders
