I worked at French Connection for more than 8 years

    Pros

Had an absolutely amazing management team here. The manager and Assistant manager were brilliant, staff were always fully trained, task completed productively and quickly, all staff at all times were kept updated about everything going on within the company and store. Had massive respect for the whole operation of this store..... hence why I stayed for 9 years until the unfortunate closing of the store. Bonus and incentives available are some of the best around in retail, some months I would earn more than my wage in bonus and commission alone. Amazing 70% discount on clothes, and individual extra discount schemes given to all staff from day one of employment. Staff are also amazing, such a great tight knit group of people.

    Cons

HR and head office are appalling. Slow and ineffective at dealing with staff, if it weren't for the manager at the Metro store, the store would have gone under years ago. Head office have no personal interest and invest no passion or care into their staff. Luckily the level of care and personal attention received from the Metro Centre management, compensated. During the redundancy process, head office completely dismissed the staff and managers, and treated them very very poorly, especially after some had given many years of exceptional service.

I worked at French Connection full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Regular head office on-site sample sales of FC clothing at great discounted rates! - Bi-Annual off-site larger public sample sales. - Free tea/coffee/sugar in head office.

    Cons

    - Below market salaries. - Long standard working hours 9-6pm. Minimum legal holiday allowance. - Unorganised head office. Hard to find meeting rooms at appropriate times. Often messy but no waste management systems to overcome this problem. - Priority given to certain departments over others. Favouritism. - Old fashioned values. Very male driven management who do not appreciate female input. - Behind the times on online platforming.

I have been working at French Connection full-time

    Pros

People are nice and friendly. It's a laid back, yet hard working environment. The product is great, and nice quality.

    Cons

Head office has a lot of potential to be better, the people are lovely and passionate about the brand, but internal communication could be a lot better and processes need reworking. A proper induction is needed to each new employee and more information about the actual brand itself, who the customer is etc. Moral could be better.

I worked at French Connection part-time

    Pros

Free uniform. Not a lot else really.

    Cons

Worst management I have ever experienced in my entire life. Store manager consistently very rude to staff and customers. Extreme downfall to store. Unreal sales targets when there are 0 customers. Left the company and was not paid for a full months work. Avoid the company like the plague. The issue with management runs all the way through into the awful HR, rude head office staff and area managers. The company has 5 years left MAX unless it is bought out. Can’t keep borrowing money for poor sales revenue and profit figures. Very outdated styles, company ethos. Evident from lack of customers store.

I worked at French Connection full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good team within store, training available but always took a long time to organise.

    Cons

Poor pay, with very little transparency in the company. Other members with less experince and skill are paid more for the same job role. After a certain job role, it is hard to move any further up in the company. Generally everyone in head office was a delight, but the higher up you went the worse they behaved. Very rude, and unprofessional at times. Undervalued in the company, outside of the store no one would appreciate and of the hard work, hours of constant overtime or effort put in. This is a mural feeling I found from several different departments.
