I have been working at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Friendly supportive colleagues Big emphasis on equal opportunities with initiatives such as Halo, Black Affinity Network, EDGE for gender equality. There is also a massive focus on mental health in the workplace with mental first aiders based on each floor. Yearly bonus - and good benefits Overall a great place to work for.

    Cons

Not enough team socials Some senior roles not qualified enough for the role. Management is too top heavy

I worked at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Good benefits and interesting projects. They are encouraging more agile working. The new office near Liverpool St looks great (moving from Fleet Street in Summer 2020).

    Cons

Hard work which is to be expected. I had to move to another company to progress up the career ladder.

I worked at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good benefits Some great people to work with

    Cons

Too many supervisors and seniors and not enough staff to do the work. Supervisors are often underskilled and don’t know what the operators actually do but somehow manage to talk the talk and get promoted. Day staff treated differently night staff Overloading of work We often got told by some fee earners (mostly associates and senior associates) how much they earn per hour as if it should make us work x10 harder for them. Lack of respect from fee earners over the phone (like above) Absolutely no progression no matter how hard you work

I worked at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer

    Pros

Excellent facilities, free gym membership for employees, on-site doctors, dentists, physiotherapists available free for employees, all of which are greatly convenient. There is an amazing canteen with fresh quality food every day and the staff and lawyers are extremely friendly. There is lots of diversity in employees, which is something I love. The firm has achieved an award for highest employments of the LGBT community, which speaks for itself. This firm is second to none when it comes to what they do, they cater to every employees' need and offers top legal advice for their clients. The culture and atmosphere of the firm is always full of enthusiasm and integrity, and there is always someone to offer you help when you need it. Employees are paid very well and pay rises over the years you stay with the firm. The firm has superb corporate responsibilities, such as environmental commitments, pro bono talks and much more (can be accessed from the website. Working hours for the typical employee is from 9.30am to 5.30pm (Monday to Friday). All employees also get a 25 - day paid holiday leave and good benefits and pension scheme.

    Cons

Of course being a part of the magic circle the firm is always busy working hard and it requires commitment and hard work from their employees. At times it may be difficult to manage a work-life balance but, when one is under those circumstances the law firms investments in facilities and services make up for it. Organisation and discipline is key.

I have been working at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer full-time

    Pros

Good company with good benefits and resources. Good training opportunities and interesting work with diverse people. Push the boat out for functions and christmas parties

    Cons

But slow moving and behind in terms of tech. Opening of the global business centre means there is lots of change on the horizon that may take time to stabalise.

    Pros

Good experience meeting a wide variety of people. Will provide a well respected entry on anyone's CV. They offer a good benefits package offering many options.

    Cons

You are expected to stay late on a fairly regular basis and there isn't really time for training or personal development.
