I worked at GAME Digital full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

If you're passionate about gaming, this is a great opportunity to meet other people with similar interests. Colleagues and customers can be some of the best people you'll ever meet! Great job satisfaction when you get that customer who is so grateful for the time and effort you put into your customer service. Working for Belong is amazing as you get to grow gaming communities.

    Cons

Low pay; lots of KPIs to hit with little to no benefit for giving 110%. A "well done" is the most you're likely to get for going above and beyond. Working hours; inconsistent and little notice given of the next week's ROTA. Can sometimes be given as little as 24 hours before your next shift if you're unlucky. If you get a rude customer, that's your day ruined. Management and customer services will rarely have your... back, and you may be humiliated for the sake of the company saving face. Customer service is one thing, and sometimes rules need to be bent to prevent conflict but throwing your staff under the bus is not ok. Management Structure; arena and store managers can be great to work with ifnyou develop a good personal relationship. Sadly you're unlikely to find anybody in a higher position who cares about store employees. Interested in progression? Good luck! You'll end up doing the job of the person above you for years with no guarantee of getting the position of and when it comes up. Becoming harder and harder to progress and area/cluster management positions make store and arena management positions redundant. Belong is a fantastic idea with poor implementation. It can't quite figure out what it wants to be and it can be difficult working on the ground dealing with disatisfied customers. Head office will not respond to the customer feedback you get on a daily basis fast enough to keep the community happy. You can do your best and it still may not be good enough. If you're lucky, you'll keep at it and get somewhere. But more often than not you'll face rejection constantly and it'll wear you down. Remember, you are always worth more than any colleague or customer makes you feel on your worst day.

    Advice to Management

Get into your stores, meet your workers, listen to them and respond. You have a lot of people willing to give you 110% and all you need to do is give them a chance and some acknowledgment. Remember who keeps the company afloat, and where the future of this company is.

I worked at GAME Digital full-time

    Pros

Excllent colleagues, incredible pool of talent

    Cons

Directors proved that female directors cannot do their job without being a bully, directors are overly critical, directors need to learn people skills, drectors are too full of themselves and are contributing to the downfall of the company

    Advice to Management

Look at the way you treat people - stop looking down your nose at others. You need to realise that people will think badly of you if you talk to them like rubbish. I have met children who know how to treat people better - it is almost laughable how poorly some of the directors act. Stop thinking that you know everything and stop expecting people to worship you. Stop ordering people around in such a militant way - do... you even care about your employees or are you just in love with your salary and think you don't have any faults? People do NOT respect some of you and the way some of you act. shameful behaviour from a bunch of abusive bullies. Some of the directors act like bullies to cover up the fact that they are useless at their jobs and lack any talent.

    Pros

Loved working there, great bunch of people, legitimately all gamers

    Cons

It's still retail so that comes with all of the regular cons. although it's much easier to keep up with product changes if it's something you're actually interested in

I have been working at GAME Digital part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Staff at sales level are a good bunch and you make amazing like-minded friends. Staff discount is good, and sometimes game developers will give you extra discount on launch days. Good training. Good hours. All staff are one big family and I feel like I speak privately with managers about any issue I'm having.

    Cons

SO much pressure to sell. If your figures are phenomenal on everything but one thing you WILL get challenged on it and asked to explain yourself. Witnessed a lot of rude and nagging sales tactics that are not only encouraged but you are trained to use them by the senior staff using them. The company also refuse to update their tills when they've not changed in about 12 years so they will crash constantly and... searching it is a nightmare.

    Advice to Management

Stop putting so much pressure on sales figures. We can't force £40 out of someone and we don't deserve a patronising lecture if we're having a bad day with it.
