I have been working at GAME Digital full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Attracts great people into its entry level positions. Store managers are almost always excellent. Decent discounts.

    Cons

Horrifically out-of-touch senior management. Multiple layers of seemingly unnecessary upper management (cluster managers, deputy area managers, area managers, regional managers). A beaurocratic nightmare that grows worse by the year. Abysmal support for those looking to advance in the company. Store budgets slashed constantly. Store closures a constant threat, often with little to no warning. Awful out-of-date IT systems and processes.

I have been working at GAME Digital part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great people to work with If you can perform and achieve targets you will be praised and recognised for it Some managers will go above and beyond to train you further if you show that you want to be there.

    Cons

Money is low compared to other jobs in same retail area. No progression unless someone leaves but even then your not guaranteed as they have to outsource first. Hours are regularly cut due to company wanting to save money but want more work done in less time.

    Pros

    - A sense of community among the staff that you'll work directly with, I, without a doubt, made friends for life through my time at GAME. - Opportunities to be involved in attending various events (made available because the team I worked within) - Bistro on-site, perfect for an affordable morning coffee. - Enjoyable 'fun' days and other activities in and around HQ.

    Cons

    - Absolutely shocking pay for the level of responsibility you're given, with any and all fight for a pay rise being a struggle. - Unorganised and unresponsive to feedback at a top-level. - Lack of understanding of the market from a senior level. - Quite outdated offices, considering they are at the forefront of an entertainment sector. - Lack of understanding from HQ about what the GAME stores go through on an 'on the ground' level, this causes stress/reaction throughout the business. - Poor communication about objectives, what's expected and any kind of plan from senior level. - Not very forthcoming on 'flexible working' and it's a struggle to get back days in lieu. - Quite a toxic working culture.

I worked at GAME Digital full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

If you're passionate about gaming, this is a great opportunity to meet other people with similar interests. Colleagues and customers can be some of the best people you'll ever meet! Great job satisfaction when you get that customer who is so grateful for the time and effort you put into your customer service. Working for Belong is amazing as you get to grow gaming communities.

    Cons

Low pay; lots of KPIs to hit with little to no benefit for giving 110%. A "well done" is the most you're likely to get for going above and beyond. Working hours; inconsistent and little notice given of the next week's ROTA. Can sometimes be given as little as 24 hours before your next shift if you're unlucky. If you get a rude customer, that's your day ruined. Management and customer services will rarely have your back, and you may be humiliated for the sake of the company saving face. Customer service is one thing, and sometimes rules need to be bent to prevent conflict but throwing your staff under the bus is not ok. Management Structure; arena and store managers can be great to work with ifnyou develop a good personal relationship. Sadly you're unlikely to find anybody in a higher position who cares about store employees. Interested in progression? Good luck! You'll end up doing the job of the person above you for years with no guarantee of getting the position of and when it comes up. Becoming harder and harder to progress and area/cluster management positions make store and arena management positions redundant. Belong is a fantastic idea with poor implementation. It can't quite figure out what it wants to be and it can be difficult working on the ground dealing with disatisfied customers. Head office will not respond to the customer feedback you get on a daily basis fast enough to keep the community happy. You can do your best and it still may not be good enough. If you're lucky, you'll keep at it and get somewhere. But more often than not you'll face rejection constantly and it'll wear you down. Remember, you are always worth more than any colleague or customer makes you feel on your worst day.
