      Pros

The work can be interesting and can be challenging. Project deadlines can be sporty at times. People are generally friendly and management usually reasonable.

      Cons

You can get pigeon holed on certain projects or only given certain sort of roles. Pretty good for new Grads as you will get lots of training, though this may eat into your free time.

Great for technicians (on the tools) Not so great for Engineers (graduates/professionals)

      Pros

The vast majority of Staff are very friendly and helpful. A pleasure to work with. Great benefits e.g. shares, pension, life-style account Hours can be flexible based on company needs. Apprenticeship and internship program is structured and very solid

      Cons

GE don't recognise, train, encourage or develop graduate engineers. The graduate program is just learn-on-the-job. The job title you work towards is "specialist operations". Chartership is not recognised or supported. After 2 years of A-levels, 4 years of university, an internship and 5 years of experience, you'll still be on less money than the shop floor apprentices who have freshly graduated (20+ year olds) Unfortunately the same thing is mirrored in operations. The operations managers are called gate leaders who are fresh graduates trying to the learn the best they can. Unfortunately they are thrust into big roles looking after up to 100 staff. The shop floor really don't appreciate the lack of leadership/direction given by inexperienced leaders, but the gate leader is watered down more every year. By the time the ops leaders start to perform really well.. They move on and the cycle continues.
