I worked at GLL part-time for more than a year

      Pros

0 hour contracts, good for students, fun place to work.

      Cons

When it's quiet can be really slow, when it's busy it can get overwhelming if you can't get support.

      Advice to Management

Communicate with all receptionists and CSA's, help as much as you can.

I worked at GLL full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

      Works as a Social Enterprise.

      Cons

Poor communication, not connected with their sites outside London. Slow to react, lack of understanding. No incentives, bonus structure. No pay rise for any staff not signing their contract regardless how good you are.

      Advice to Management

Listen, understand, get out of London, too many at the top have been their and together far too long protecting each others back. Fresh blood, ideas, senior management needed. Mark Sesnan, MD has only ever been rude and abrupt in his 2 visits in 3 years.

I worked at GLL full-time for less than a year

      Pros

Well established and well run centre and ground floor staff where brilliant! Very friendly environment most of the time. great career progression oppertunities

      Cons

Lack of support from managment or senior staff when starting in the Centre. Wasn’t given a formal induction. Full time lifeguards must attend monthly and quarterly training and are given Toil if those are outside contracted hours however when trying to take toil it’s almost like pulling teeth as managment make it almost impossible to use up any hours owed. The same can be said for Annual leave, both of which aren’t able...

      Advice to Management

More transparency around toil and Annual leave as well as more time allocated towards floor/front of house staff. A better attitude when dealing with staff and any problems around the centre.

I worked at GLL part-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Great Colleagues, all staff were into fitness and generally healthy bunch of people., who motivates yourself by working in that sort of environment. Good hourly pay, 0 hours contact gave great flexibility, typically, if you have good work relations with GM, you will get regular weekly hours. Not a stressful job, not many complaints.

      Cons

Shifts can start super early at 5:45 am or finish late at 22:15. Can get short shifts-5h long to cover busy periods. Have to go on outreach even in cold and windy days. Need to do some gym equipment cleaning including changing rooms and toilets.
