    Cons

I have been working at GLOBALFOUNDRIES full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Globalfoundries is a good place to work for recent college graduates or people new to the semiconductor industry. You can learn some basic skills and gain some good experience for your resume. Also you can work at GF and have them pay for additional schooling. Another pro is the work/life balance if you work on shift you will get three to four days off.

    Cons

Where do I even begin! The pay and promotions are not good and make you feel unappreciated. You can work hard and surpass many of the untalented people at GF but still not be compensated accordingly. The management team is very poor at GF. In two years I will be going on my 4th manager. They come and go constantly in many different departments. The upper management is also very delusional and have unrealistic expectations. Many of the people at GF are very incompetent. People have jobs they are not qualified for, leading to machines being broken or endangering people's lives. Most people do not communicate effectively causing critical details to be missed. Which again puts people in dangerous situations. If you want to work with skilled and talented people GF is NOT the place to work. Instead look for opportunities at Samsung or Intel. Finally another big issue at GF is the lack of a good culture. The culture is one of desperation and hopelessness. Countless people in our own department and others always speak to the fact of being left alone/understaffed and being responsible for sometimes 80+ process tools (machines) at a time. This combined with a lack of training will often leave workers with no direction/support which leads to tiring 12 hour days. People are also not held accountable for the mistakes they make, workers can make the same mistake over and over again and never receive any kind of disciplinary action from management.
