Looks after its people, great place to work.

    Pros

The company has really changed over the last few years, moving to a much more people centric approach, which really shone through during the pandemic when our competitors were making redundancies day 1 of lockdown and GS focused on protecting all jobs. Been a much greater focus on diversity and inclusion recently, both internally and externally, and the senior leadership are clearly behind things changing too. Really good approach to flexible working, clear support to genuinely allow people to work in a way that best fits them.

    Cons

Recruitment hasn't kept up with demand, and whilst the new recruitment campaign is good to see, staff often don't have time to focus on their own development or some of the cross company work, as processes have to be delivered for clients. There is definitely still work to do around diversity and inclusion internally, but GS are definitely trying to turn the dial, it just takes time which we all understand.

    Pros

You can tell a lot about the business as to how it responds in a crisis - GS looked after its people and its customers, increased engagement and called it straight- and the teams in response at GS worked hard to protect the business and each other (it was humbling to watch and awesome to be a part of such a team). Open and collaborative culture, regular company wide updates and the business provides the opportunity to air views and ask anything anonymously at those sessions - the good the bad and the ugly which is refreshing. Very focused on personnel health and well-being and have a number of teams (non Leadership team led) that focus on areas that are important to the people in the business. Focus heavily also on customer service - everyone in the business wants to strive to be the best and feel proud of the service they provide and the business they work for. GS are innovative and very focused in Continuous improvement. Extremely ethical organisation really trying to understand and focus on accessibility and equality for all - this is not just tick box exercise at GS they invest heavily in this in both time and funds.

    Cons

Nothings perfect - so for me working at GS in a flexible, innovative organisation hiring great people with good remuneration and agility of practice (any little niggles are just that and not worth mentioning if you are coming onboard - would def recommend GS as a great place to work)

    Pros

Super supportive culture but with high expectations around quality of delivery and support to candidates and clients alike. You are given permission to try new things and also to challenge practice. Treated like a grown up and trusted to get on and do.

    Cons

Balancing work load priorities with building teams out for future growth is always a tricky thing to get right but GS are attempting to do so.

    Pros

There is huge flexibility at GatenbySanderson. Leadership are really listening to staff. They've not been perfect, but are willing to learn and grow. We're stronger now post-pandemic than we've ever been.

    Cons

Staff resourcing - recruitment has not been fast enough to cope with the influx of work. This means that staff are purely focused on delivering, which is fine, but means there's no time to breathe and to take a considered approach to learning and development.

    Pros

Works across a wide range of public services and a good client base Some highly experienced consultants and support staff that keep standards high in a lot of practices - particularly health Good approach to agile working Fair bonus scheme which is very transparent unlike some other big players e.g. Penna

    Cons

The Chief Executive doesn't understand the business and is a bit of a laughing stock but he doesn't realise as he only listens to a few men in the business A lot of experienced staff left during the pandemic and their replacements haven't been successful and haven't built relationships Some practices are a sinking ship with too many consultants not doing much Negative feedback from clients is brushed under the carpet and not acted upon Lots of spin about diversity and inclusion but the senior people are old fashioned and there have been complaints about inappropriate language - most are hanging around waiting for a pay off and don't care any more

    Pros

You really get to see a company's true intentions and worth in a crisis. The pandemic showed GS that it valued its people. It's approach to agile working is up there with the best. Working hard to take diversity seriously.

    Cons

Not the best payers in the market but I'm done with 4 hour commutes and chasing my tail
