      Pros

Telework opportunity Good benefits Friendly coworkers overall Decent PTO accrual

      Cons

Employees are dispensable. Upper Management is clueless on the day to day activities of staff. Unrealistic expectations regarding goals and metrics. Staff are set up for failure. Horrible computer systems. Programs are unreliable and equipment is archaic. The focus is on numbers whether you’re actually helping anyone or not. Rules change based on the mood of management any given day. A huge cluster of staff was let go via email. Dishonest company that is more interested in getting recognition from the community than taking care of its employees.

      Pros

      Cons

In the time I have worked at Gateway the company has gotten progressively worse. It's not that there isn't direction, its that upper management wants to go EVERY direction all at once without taking the time to plan. Projects never get done right because there's never enough time, people, focus, or planning put into anything to make them successful. Many projects never complete or fail upon launch. Every project is a mad dash for the end of the year so the execs can get their bonuses for "successful" launches of products. Much of this comes from the C-level down while everyone Director level and below gets crushed. The employee turnover rate is climbing as a result. A recent failed large-scale software conversion cost the company millions of dollars in wasted employee time, bad software purchases, and the COO prematurely cancelled service contracts that had to be renewed at greatly higher rates. What's worse is that this wasted money is from government money paid to Gateway from Medicare/ Medicaid. Instead of focusing on our current business and making sure we are doing business right, we keep rolling out the same failing, broken systems and processes to other lines of business in other states.

      Pros

Location downtown, Salary, Supportive peers, Decent benefit

      Cons

I am a boomerang employee who worked under CEO Mike Blackwood. During his tenior, the company was a very respectable organization to work for. Management was more intune with staff overall. Mr. Blackwood actually visited the floors and would take time to converse with staff and actually knew you by name. Under Patty Darnley, you barely see upper management and the only time you see her is at quarterly companywide staff mtgs or at public functions. Our own department VP rarely walks the unit and when you do see her, she offers not much more than a token smile and hello. There is no leadership or mentoring and very disorganized processes. More and more responsibility is added on a frequent basis despite the reduction of staff. A directive to stop announcing staff departures/ resignations was implemented as you can imagine the bleak picture that the rate that people leave the organization paints. Core Behaviors are plastered all over the companies walls but there is no feeling of trust or safety when it comes to discussing issues or requesting opportunities for growth and knowledge. There is also a severe lack of modern technology and resources to support operations.. And no formal training and development program to properly train and provide growth for employees.

Like a sinking ship, a depressed sinking ship

      Pros

Benefits, convenient location near public transport, pay is comprable to other jobs. Good people at lower levels. Uh... 20 word minimum.

      Cons

Constant revolving door of employees quitting or being fired. All new upper management, after new CEO came in all senior managment people who had many years with the company were eliminated. Current business style is reactive not proactive, and the reaction is usually "everyone freak out and take it out on the lower level people." Way too many directors. Company has last a lot of business recently and it feels like we're about to go out of business. Entirw company seems depressed, it doesn't matter what department you go to.

      Pros

The health benefits are very good when you become a full time employee and a competitive call center starting wage

      Cons

Newer upper management has not added any value to this center in the past year. Focus shifting from understanding and working with each other to worrying about people being out of their seats asking for help when the lack of quality reference material is the root cause of people having to ask questions in the first place

      Why so much turnover?

      Pros

Decent benefits package and compensation. Good location in the golden triangle. Was a great place to work and was profitable at one point.

      Cons

Upper management and highly compensated managers are ineffective. It is that simple. I gave the new regime a chance but it became apparent that reckless spending and cronyism was the goal. Competent employees, hired before regime change and after, are leaving or being driven out. You hear the right words and speeches but where is the improvement and why the turnover? Don't trust upper management. It doesn't add up.

Hostile Cruel Work Enviornment, Hitler Commando Style *Upper Management*

Dec 6, 2015 - Supervisor-lower Level Management in Pittsburgh, PA
      Recommend

      Pros

Health Care Benefits, only pro since we are part of Highmark, Inc.

      Cons

      1. Intimidation tactics towards the employees. 2. Harsh work enviornment. 3. 50-60% of the staff has been Discharged/Fired or has left the company over the last 90 days. 4. If you put your resignation in, you are walked out immediately before your resignation date. 5. Quite small new cubicles on a new floor from the move to the new floor 2 weeks ago. 6. Threats to put away your 'box of moved items from the previous floor or they will be thrown away, although there is not enough space to place your items in your small 1/4 the space that you had up on the previous fifth floor. 7. Interrogation procedures from upper management to try and pin/get innocent employees in trouble by calling an employee in to upper managements office for a interrogation for the purpose of getting another employee set up to be fired. 8. Tiny new kitchen with 2 small tables and four chairs total; not enough for anyone to sit and eat their lunch with over 125 employees on the newly moved floor. 9.Emphasis placed on having a large room for the Mom Matters Program aka breastfeeding area, only while the break/kitchen room is quite tiny and not enough to accomodate 125 employees. 10. Scheduled breaks only; so shall you have to use the rest room during a time that your kidneys call for it, it will affect your monthly scorecard production rating. 11. No consistency on monthly scoring of Calls that are Evaluated for Quality. 12. Racism present and used by upper management against Caucasian Workers; in particular women and some of the male workers. 13. Harsh treatment towards the 'Temporary Employees.' 14. Not permitted to take time off if you are ill and need to see a doctor such as if you have the FLU in the winter months of January thru March 2016. 15. Four recent Reviews placed by Management are Fake, Beware! 16. Horrible Computer System Software Issues present for months on end. 17. False Set ups of employees as a way to find excuses to get rid of the 'Permanent Full Time Employees who have been there for quite some time. 18. Lower Management quite upset with New Upper Managements Commando Unfair Changes towards all. 19. Favoritism by Upper Management. 20.Unfair Business Practices towards Employees. 21. Poor Software Inefficient 'at times' Programs to work with. 22. Upper Management trying to wing their decisions without having the proper knowledge or experience on how to manage. 23. Disrespectful and Hostile Work Control Enviorment by Upper Management towards Supervisors, Leads, Customer Service Representatives and all that cross Upper Managements Path with Intimidation Tactics by Upper Management!
