I worked at Gemalto full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Mature project management structure
    Hands on role
    Interesting subject matter.
Small amount of travel, enough for it to be interesting but very manageable.
Multi cultural team makes for interesting life.
    Good company support and benefits.
Great team culture, meals out, activity etc.
    Flexible working times.
    Home working.

    Cons

A lot of pressure from sales to deliver early early early despite known planning submitted. It wastes so much time and questionable whether it really achieves more than the effort used trying to please the sale director. Salary can fall behind industry norm and little you can do about it.
Some childish senior team members motivated by money and pressure from above though these are few and far between.

    Advice to Management

Deal with sales director bullying and unreasonable demands.
Try to keep good staff being flexible with salary.

I have been working at Gemalto full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexibility on working hours, possibility to work from home. Shares in company (after having worked there for some time), Large international company so opportunities for career progression and working in different locations all over the world. Travel.

    Cons

The company is going through a difficult period and staff moral has been low ever since the take-over of a larger company a couple of years ago. Issues with management who are not communicating well with employees about future plans. Many good people leaving as they have options and they are not feeling valued. Too many Sales reps since major acquisitions. Promotion from within depending very much on "who you know" and politics.. Big cuts on spending meaning that all expenses queried and any travel deemed "unnecessary" denied.. Restructuring many times within a short period of time has lead to confusion about "who does what".

    Advice to Management

Communication is key here. Transparency within the company is important so that the employees feel that they and their opinions matter and they know what is going on. Don't take them for granted as this leads to good people leaving as soon as they get a better offer. Promote from within and in a fairer way, so based on experience and talent not politics. You need to change things round and fast, before all the good people have left..

    Pros

Great place to develop, wide ranging technology and room to develop. They believe in looking after their people and keen to share core values.

    Cons

As a result of investment in people there's sometimes a lack of career progression when management stays in situ.

    Advice to Management

Contunue to invest in the security portfolio. Sim tech and payments will continue to be commoditised.
