I worked at Gilead Sciences full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Learned a lot from research scientists. People are willing to help if you ask for it.

    Cons

Navigating the bureaucracy can be challenging and intimidating.

I worked at Gilead Sciences (Less than a year)

    Pros

This was an absolutely great learning experience for me. There were many opportunities to understand business cross functionalities. Definitely recommend this position to other people.

    Cons

There was not a lot of hands-on teaching, therefore in my experience it was a lot of self-teaching. Sometimes the environment could be very competitive and like a colleague of mine jokingly said, it was either a sink or swim situation.

    Advice to Management

I would definitely suggest that management offer more of a mentorship program in different departments for the non-science interns. It would help understand the workplace and business functionalities better.

    Pros

Great people to work with, great company mission, great learning & development opportunities during the summer internship

    Cons

In the Bay Area, this company can feel a little old fashioned compared to the startup environment and tech culture.

I have been working at Gilead Sciences as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people, the staff, all amazing, caring people.

    Cons

They don't open past 5pm in my department, which sucks for interns who work and go to school full time.

I worked at Gilead Sciences as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Well-rounded QA experience in different departments
    Good work environment
    Great senior/management staff
    Weekly catering for office staff
    Decent pay for an internship

    Cons

I would occasionally run out of work to do and they'd make me organize files alphabetically. That wasn't exactly the experience I was looking for in this internship. There should have been more workshops, training, and seminars about how to be successful in a future career at Gilead in Quality Assurance.
