I have been working at Gilead Sciences full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits; Lots of work so you'll never get bored

    Cons

Limited chances for career development. Management is clear that unless there is a business need to develop a new skill, forget about it. Most people get pigeonholed into doing one thing over and over, which on the plus side is efficient, but is also mind-numbing; Gilead claims to be a "pay for performance" company, however management has no clue who is doing what. I've seen people work 16 hour days and accomplish a tremendous amount of work, and I've seen people work 8 hour days and spend half the day socializing, but at the end of the year they end up with the same rating/bonus because management has no idea who is actually doing the work.

I have been working at Gilead Sciences full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Company has lots of talented and diligent ppl working in it, who are also very friendly and supportive. Great learning environment as well, lots of seminars, courses to take to learn new skills.

    Cons

Relatively lean company, so lots of work going on. Overtime is very common for everyone, management usually expects very quick turnaround time.

I have been working at Gilead Sciences full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

great benefits, good 401K plan, more than enough sick days and vacation days, on site dry cleaning pick up.
I do beleive that the executive management is leading the company in a good direction

    Cons

Never seen so many unhappy people. They all tell you that they stay for the money. Promotion are attributed for seniority or politic reasons rather than concrete contributions. The management methods are from the last century: lack of transparency, no respect for subordinate or co worker, new idea are not welcome.
The main moto seems to be absorb any credit you can and reflect all blame... As a result people are very reluctant to work as a team and back stabbing happen at every level.

    Advice to Management

when politic moves weight more than professional behaviour it is time to take action.

I have been working at Gilead Sciences full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I had to really really think of something to write here, but i dont think there is any thing to write......at this point even monetary benefits seem useless.

    Cons

Heavy politics, favoritism, excessive work, and no work life balance. They make you work like a dog. if you question them, they will make every effort to make your life extremely uncomfortable. Human Resources is a puppet!
