I worked at Gilead Sciences full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, competitive pay and supportive supervisors.

    Cons

Slow to promote from within. Worked in a toxic environment and upper management took several years to make any changes.

    Pros

Good commute, large campus, good medical benefits, great research and medical research team, fast moving research, competitive edge in industry

    Cons

Low salaries, minimal annual salary raises, biased treatment of employees where 'friends' become promoted often, not on merit. No recognition for hard work. No flex-time/minimal WFH. Low morale due to no acquisition, cutting back on clinical development, outsourcing, lack of transparency and direction from senior management

    Advice to Management

Treat everyone fairly and recognize hard work and contributions, retention packages to all (not some), this will cut back the attrition

I have been working at Gilead Sciences full-time

    Pros

Work with great people who are passionate about what they do and willing to put in the time to get things done correctly. Great core values on paper. Great pay and benefits.

    Cons

VP at the So Cal site leaves a lot to be desired. Directors are in fear of losing their jobs or being persecuted for not giving in to his demands which trickles down to other employees. Little or no loyalty to employees. A great place if you are looking to join the Good Ole Boys Club, however for women looking to climb you may want to keep looking.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees. Although people are expendable they shouldn't feel like they are.

I have been working at Gilead Sciences full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Small teams, big responsibility, lean, big impact on the world, Directors and below are competent; vps and above need to be more data and reality driven

    Cons

Stuck in a 90's pharma model, too lean, jobs don't require you to have an actual impact, politics among VPs can be destructive

I have been working at Gilead Sciences full-time

    Pros

    - Strong Senior Management Team
    - Decisions are based on the science or data
    - No non-sense culture when it comes to execution and performance management
    - Lean operating model, get to wear many hats and build new skill sets

    Cons

    - Company has gone through significant growth over the past 3 years, many internal systems / infrastructure, processes are now getting caught up
    - For newer employees, it can feel a little 'clinical' since most people heads-down or busy with multiple projects. It can take some time to build your internal network and understand how to navigate the organization.

    Advice to Management

    - Continue communicating the future direction and strategy of the company
