I have been working at GoCo Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Some of the people are great fun to work with

    Cons

Constant bullying from management. Unrealistic objectives set that invariably change. One of the company values is about letting people be themselves. In reality, that only applies to management favourites. Everyone else is constantly berated. If you complain about anything, you're being negative. Look like you're enjoying yourself and the accusations are of time wasting. Say nothing and you're not participating. It's a no win situation. There are managers who constantly blame other teams for their failings, managers who take credit for other people's work, managers who make bad decisions, managers who won't make decisions at all. It wasn't always like this. Only since the esure group bought the company and then sold it has it been going downhill. Several nights a week, I go home and cry because it's so horrible there. If you dare speak up, you can expect retaliation in some form or other. On site facilities are awful. Air con is almost always broken, too hot or too cold. The canteen food is overpriced and not great quality. Drinks machines have been almost completely removed. Parking is limited and the overflow car park is a long walk away. New managers have been jumping the queue for a space in the main car park.

Hi, Firstly, thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. I was saddened to read your comments as they go against everything that we have been working toward over the past two years. Our culture is about being Driven, Bold, Open, Genuine and Fair and fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can be themselves. We genuinely believe that people are our differentiator in the market and we want to do everything we can to ensure that work is a fun, stretching and rewarding place. Bullying will not be tolerated in any part of the organisation and I would urge you to come and see me or reach out to me so as we can have a completely confidential chat about what is going on and how to best solve the issues for you. We run regular surveys aimed at assessing how people are feeling and I’m pleased to say that for the majority, people enjoy working here. We are committed to making GoCompare the best place to work and can only do that if we have the opportunity to talk through issues and sort them. I would genuinely like to help to resolve your issues. Hopefully speak to you soon, Alex Currie – HR Director

I have been working at GoCo Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

A great bunch of people to work with, everyone is so friendly. It's nice to work in a place where you are pushed to better yourself in your role, with amazing training opportunities. I have just been on maturnity leave and everyone was so supportive being pregnant in the workplace and the maturnity pay package is unrivalled from what I've experienced elsewhere. Gocompare really supports you in every aspect of your job, and I feel is a fun place to work.

    Cons

Not really any major concerns that effect my life at Gocompare, everything is thought of from fruit Monday's to coffee and squash.

Awwwww fellow GoCo'er.... we are so glad our maternity and other family friendly policies have helped. Paying our fellow GoCo'ers 9 months full pay across all of these policies was done with the aim of taking the financial worry away, allowing you to focus on what really matters... the baby! Thank you for the feedback... we will continue to evolve out benefits to ensure you have the best perks around! #LifeAtGoCompare #BigGoCoLove #NewMiniGoCoer

I worked at GoCo Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Team was great and nice people to work for. The job was enjoyable too. Did a lot to support the local community

    Cons

the higher up the management ladder, the more patronising and political (and empire building) they were. What's worse is that they encouraged those that (they liked and) worked with them to do the same. If your face fitted and you kowtowed to those that demanded it, then you were on to a winner. If not...if you dare to be a "no" person then it's the door shutting behind you that you will hear. All I wanted to do was my best but as I didn't want to play their silly games or conform to the ridiculous demands that had nothing to do with the job, that was me done.

I have been working at GoCo Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fantastic place to work with incredibly friendly and down to earth people! I would highly recommend gocompare to a friend as it offers so much with regards to development opportunities and career progression. The company benefits package was also very appealing to me before I joined and I was not let down at all! With a great pension, almost monthly company events, free fruit and coffee, free parking, bonus ever year, your birthday off, free private medical cover, subsidised after work activities i.e football or yoga classes, second to none facilities, heavily subsidised on-site food you cant go wrong. Five starts all round!

    Cons

It rains a lot in Wales

    Negative Outlook

I worked at GoCo Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The staff are friendly and the facilities are ok. The company does donate a lot of time and money to both local and national charities.

    Cons

Unfortunately what could possibly be a decent place to work is utterly ruined by an ineffectual and domineering Senior management team. There is an extremely strong and pronounced blame culture. If your face fits you're usually safe no matter how incompetent, however if it doesn't, your time may be short lived. It is not uncommon for staff who's face no longer fits to be frogmarched out of the building and their belongings to be swept into a box to follow them out of the door. Extreme office politics with little empires everywhere. The back-stabbing, infighting and maneuvering for position and power is unedifying to say the least. Training opportunities are difficult to come by, and if you do secure one, you are left in no uncertain terms that you should be eternally grateful.

Whilst we never like to say goodbye to one of our staff, when we do, we do so with good wishes of continued success in whatever they may choose to do. We wish you all the best for your future.

I have been working at GoCo Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I’ve worked at GoCo for the last year and it really seems to be going from good to great. It’s the team that makes it the place it is. A group of like minded individuals working together for a common goal. I’ve yet to see some of the stuff you’d expect in an office... cliques, political moves etc. So far, so good.

    Cons

The office is nice but I can’t help feel it’s lost some character. I’d suggest adding some of it back in.

I worked at GoCo Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Able, yet modest and down to earth staff - Fast paced and cutting edge technologies being used - Flexible working hours and option to work from home whenever needed - (Genuinely!) competitive salaries and share options

    Cons

    - Too much emphasis on Agile without real buy in from all squads - Some people make the most of the trust they're afforded - Limited car parking & very little in the immediate area

Yo GoCo Alumni... Hope things are going well in your new role. Firstly, thank you for your open and honest feedback.
