Pros

If you like being treated like pond scum, this place is for you.

Cons

Terrible pay. No offices -- you work in a bullpen. Most students have no business being in college, yet you are pressured to not fail them. Five course per term load and summers are included for no additional pay. Low morale and duplicitous management.

Pros

Lots of nice people in the trenches but all are stretched thin and there is tons of turnover. Good people don’t stay. You and your dependents can get free or discounted education.

Cons

Management has huge egos and pick favorites. There is an “in” crowd and if you aren’t one of them you will know. HR can not be trusted because of this. Full campus meetings really show this with inside jokes, side comments from members of leadership teams, etc. DEI efforts are a lot of talk but culture is quite toxic overall. Equity and promotion is for the chosen regardless of productivity level. Campus is empty except for staff-3/4 students are online.

Goodwin is not so "Good" anymore

Pros

It's great to work with students to help them reach their goals. Good colleagues, convenient location, beautiful building.

Cons

Low salaries and self-centered upper management who are focused on money rather than the student experience. Be prepared to work your fingers to the bones without so much as a thank you. When I started working for this company several years ago there was an emphasis on "customer service", meaning that the student was number one, and at that time staff were given enough time to work with students and make them feel valued. There were fewer management layers between the front-line people and the president; the president used to wall the halls and talk with students and staff. Now, it is all about time and money, and the students and staff are considered unimportant and replaceable.
