I have been working at Grant Thornton UK LLP full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There's a great culture with partners more approachable than those at the Big 4. They also encourage a good work life balance with "agile working" (working from home etc) if needed.

    Cons

Roles with a national remit can lead to frustrating career prospects. A lot of the firms focus is on London, so if you don't work there there's little chance of promotion or bonus.

    Advice to Management

Senior management in London who do not work with people in the rest of the UK on a day to day basis should not be able to influence performance reviews of those outside London.

    Pros

Very clever people work there and you are given a lot of freedom and autonomy.

    Cons

Slightly disorganised without a clear sense of direction for those within the firm.

    Advice to Management

Be clearer about what the firms strategy.

I have been working at Grant Thornton UK LLP full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    City centre location. Free fruit.

    Cons

Timed on how long it takes you to do tasks (complexity not taken into account)
Wage - paid peanuts for doing the same level of work as an auditor.
This is not an Admin role! You're better off working in Tesco for more money.

    Advice to Management

Learn from the big companies and reward the staff with a fair wage and more bonuses. The odd bottle of cheap wine is an insult!

I worked at Grant Thornton UK LLP full-time

    Pros

The people you work with are all nice and it was a pleasure to work with them

    Cons

Short staffed- partners don't want to recruit, they would rather overwork people to save money
No work/life balance once you get to in charging a lot of people work on weekends.
There have been instances of people being off due to work related stress and depression caused by working crazy hours and too much pressure due to not having enough time and staff on each client

    Advice to Management

    Recruit!!!

    "Experience in London marketing team"

    • Comp & Benefits
    • Senior Management
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Neutral Outlook
    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Excellent culture driven from CEO down
    Flexible working encouraged
Partners all approachable and appreciate marketing support (not always case in professional services)

    Cons

Poor senior management (marketing team) so staff don't know what's going on
Progression seems to happen to a chosen few with hard work not recognised
Salary below market rate; typical smoke and mirrors with salary increases at performance review time; no bonus

    Advice to Management

Firm clearly in transition under an inspirational CEO driven by 'vibrant economy' purpose. Big investment (time and £££) in it, but failing to land internally or in the market. Big 4 doing similar initiatives with more money and clout
