    Pros

For me Grant Thornton represents an environment in which there is an uncapped potential to learn and develop and where team and culture is of the utmost importance.

    Cons

Grant Thornton claims to pay competitive market rate salaries which are benchmarked against its peers. However, I continuously hear market stories of people earning more competitive rates. I think we would attract and retain staff better if we addressed this shortfall.

    Pros

Employees treated well and with respect. Open door policy with senior management. Excellent training facility. Early responsibility encouraged. Agile working and employee wellbeing well supported.

    Cons

Salary/bonuses mediocre compared to competition. Progression can be slow with cultural expectation that one needs to be perfect for the grade above to progress (not in all cases).

I have been working at Grant Thornton UK LLP full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

When you join Grant Thornton you instantly feel part of a family. I meet people regularly that have been with the firm for 5+ years and there's a reason for that.

Grant Thornton has been my first job out of school and i have rapidly progressed over the past 6 years that i have been with the firm. I joined as a Team Assistant, and following promotion(s) i am now in a client-facing Executive role which has put me on the perfect path to set me up for my long term career. I have had 2 secondment opportunities which has allowed me to build connections with even more people in the firm, and learn how the wider firm operates.

Throughout this, i have been coached and developed with the support of my people manager, and attending in-house workshops.

I have now found myself in a role that i can shape myself and i am encouraged to share idea's and feel they are valued.

    Cons

Can sometimes feel very partner-led, however a lot of execution and client-facing roles are at Associate /Executive level

More connectivity between service lines and departments to feel more joined up as a firm. What are people, clients, and teams doing around the firm that are working really well?

    Advice to Management

More connection between senior management and people at Associate / Exec levels so we can feel empowered and supported to grow, and execute - specially as majority are client facing. Can we hear what other people in the firm are doing more?

I have been working at Grant Thornton UK LLP part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    * The people are enthusiastic, intelligent and entrepreneurial
    * Leadership skills are fostered and encouraged by managers - allowing people to reach their full potential
    * Flexible and agile working is encouraged and supported allowing for a good work life balance
    * The strategic vision for the business is clear and ambitious - the firm's commitment to building a better world for everyone to work and live in is inspiring

    Cons

    * The size of the business means progress, change and innovation is, by necessity, done by committee and is therefore slow

    * The leadership styles of individual managers has a very significant impact and varies across the business meaning that people's experience of working for the firm is wide-ranging
    * Sometimes the action taken by the firm is slow to move and therefore the ambitious vision of leadership feels disconnected from the rest of the firm
    * There are still senior leaders whose style of working feels hierarchical and out of date - which impacts team's ability to drive ambitious change

    Advice to Management

    * Ensure clear senior leadership and accountability is attached to themes relating to purpose - this will allow a clear chain of command and give project teams the framework to innovate and drive change
    * Where statements are made about commitment to change put in place simple actions that support that statement and make an investment to drive that change
