I worked at Grant Thornton UK LLP full-time

    Pros

It's a job. It's a growing company with good reputation.

    Cons

A lot of people coming and leaving. They changed my line manager three times and I was provided with false hope on progression. After years of hard work towards my goals, each new manager regrettably told me similar things like "I'm not sure what you've been told. It's not happening. It wasn't me and it's not up to me." After three times it felt like a game and even though it might have just been an unfortunate consequence of high turnover rate in this company, I felt stranded, unsupported and unimportant. It was a disappointing job experience.

I have been working at Grant Thornton UK LLP full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fantastic culture, supportive colleagues, agile working, lots of autonomy and responsibility.

    Cons

London and the regions very different businesses so vision and strategy doesn't always feel like it works for both

    Advice to Management

Leadership talent is rare and we have some great ones. Make sure the people leading teams and business areas are leaders first and work winners second.

I have been working at Grant Thornton UK LLP part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The firm is large enough to have great facilities (e.g. really nice, recently refurbished London offices) and resources (e.g. training centre at Bradenham) and attract really good people to it, but still maintains a friendly and informal feeling. Being a shared enterprise means that everyone in the firm has a part to play in making decisions, and gets to share in the rewards - which makes me more motivated to work hard. The current CEO, Sacha, is a really inspirational leader to work with. Working hours are flexible, and lots of people work from home or other sites.

    Cons

The whole performance management/appraisal/pay process is not as transparent as it should be, which can be frustrating at year end time. Some of the systems used at the firm are outdated, and not fit for purpose (e.g. timesheet/billing system) which takes time/energy away from the day job.

    Cons

Unstructured and good talent not accelerated through development
    Mediocrity accepted and not resolved
No investment in systems or new products

Employees treated well and with respect. Open door policy with senior management. Excellent training facility. Early responsibility encouraged. Agile working and employee wellbeing well supported.

I have been working at Grant Thornton UK LLP full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

When you join Grant Thornton you instantly feel part of a family. I meet people regularly that have been with the firm for 5+ years and there's a reason for that.

Grant Thornton has been my first job out of school and i have rapidly progressed over the past 6 years that i have been with the firm. I joined as a Team Assistant, and following promotion(s) i am now in a client-facing Executive role which has put me on the perfect path to set me up for my long term career. I have had 2 secondment opportunities which has allowed me to build connections with even more people in the firm, and learn how the wider firm operates.

Throughout this, i have been coached and developed with the support of my people manager, and attending in-house workshops.

I have now found myself in a role that i can shape myself and i am encouraged to share idea's and feel they are valued.

    Cons

Can sometimes feel very partner-led, however a lot of execution and client-facing roles are at Associate /Executive level

More connectivity between service lines and departments to feel more joined up as a firm. What are people, clients, and teams doing around the firm that are working really well?

    Advice to Management

More connection between senior management and people at Associate / Exec levels so we can feel empowered and supported to grow, and execute - specially as majority are client facing. Can we hear what other people in the firm are doing more?
