    I have been working at Great Clips full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Lots of hours flexible hours available.
    -Plenty of training and support to be successful.
    -Pay and opportunity to increase your pay is amazing. I have never made so much money cutting hair!
    -Franchisee is in the salon twice weekly or more.
    - Awesome support from the corporate side ie training and advice
    -Managers care about the staff and if they are happy or not.

    Cons

    -Sometimes we are understaffed for the customers we are doing and can feel overwhelming and tired at the end of the day.
    -Some staff can slack off when faster and better staff are on the schedule.

    Advice to Management

    - Hire staff that want to work and have the motivation to work hard.
    -Treat staff like they are the top priority. If the employees are happy the customers will be too!

    I have been working at Great Clips part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    The company cares about their employees and customers! They have flexible hours that can work around school and/or life. Clientele that love a fast paced and convenient but comfortable atmosphere. The team works together with management to make the salon and it’s stylists the most successful possible. I love my Great Clips family!

    Cons

    With the employment rate being so low everywhere and in every industry, being short staffed can make for long shifts and difficulty finding coverage when ill. Keeping everyone positive in a busy situation can be challenging.

    Advice to Management

    Know that you can’t make everyone happy and you can only do the best you can with what you got. Keeping the atmosphere positive, showing your appreciation to your staff as well as your customers, and letting stylists know that as long as they wow every client that sits in their chair, they are doing exactly what they should be doing. Don’t stress about things you can’t control and make it as fun and positive as possible!

    Pros

    Amazing company to work for. I love the paid training provided. Great team atmosphere. The Franchise treats all staff like family. The Salon is busy and we easily achieve the goals we set.

    Cons

    Not many cons. I truly enjoy my job.

    Keep up the support and encouragement that makes our stylist love coming to work.

    Pros

    Everyone Here cares for one another. there is room for advancement. real team work and ongoing support ,paid training. it definitely feels like home away from home and I absolutely adore my coworkers.

    Cons

    stylist that enter into the great clips culture not open to really joining the team. they can have a negative impact on the work environment.

    Pros

    Started here out of school with no knowledge of the company. over four years with training and positive reenforcement I worked up the great clips ladders to be a manager. I love the paid training my stylist continue to receive to help further the talents. Also being a manger I never feel in the dark about up coming events in our company, head office always make sure we are well prepared for all peaks of the year and anything new they may be rolling out to help further education in the Work place.

    Cons

    As a manager I sometimes feel my life workplace balance is more work then life but in the long run I always get those vacation days and my amazing franchise makes sure I’m not over working myself. Often suggests more vacation at times we are not in peaks. Of course this varies upon your franchisee.

    Advice to Management

    Make sure all your staff if getting the education they want and deserve to have.

    Friendly staff. Great locations provides consistent customer flow. Flexable scheduling and advancement opportunities. Bonus and incentives.

    Cons

    Cannot make appointments...but online check in and walk in welcome.

    I've been with Great Clips for over 6 years. I appreciate the standards and goals this company has set for us. This has not only helps us to grow the business and clientele but as stylists and individuals. I appreciate the leaders who help build us up with advice, guidance and training along with professionalism and patience. This company has made me successful in achieving my professional growth and I just want to say thank you for making me GREAT too.

    Pros

    Steady flow of clientele who are kind and tip well! My franchises are an amazing couple who love to stay involved in great clips and it shows with the wonderful GM’s they’ve chose and the success of their stores. You can work your way up and continuing education is always available online or in classes. Great salon team and support.

    Cons

    Only down side is it took me a while to find the right salon. I worked for a franchise before that almost made me quit great clips all together I’m so fortunate to have found the right team now!!
