Former Employee - Bartender in Cambridge, England

I worked at Greene King part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Bartending at Greene King pubs can be fun some evenings, with a good work social life and drinks after work sometimes.

    Cons

Poor pay, only minimum wage. Boss didn't make you feel great. Lots of cleaning tasks which are less preferable to serving at the bar.

I have been working at Greene King full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great teamwork, almost a family-like feel to each pub. 33% off isn't too shabby either.

    Cons

Head Office have zero idea what happens in their pubs, nor the functionality of the things they put in place. An overwhelming sense shared by managers and team players alike that nobody in Head Office has ever worked in a pub. Also very little in the way of support for anyone based in pubs, while Head Office regularly promote their wellbeing campaigns across all in-house platforms, which are just for employees based at Head Office. It's a real kick in the teeth.
