I have been working at Greene King full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Your enjoyment in your role really does heavily depend on your relationship with your General manager. The role offers great satisfaction for people who like to please, if you like a fast paced environment with plenty of challenges. No day is the same. great opportunity for learning and self improvement education IF your general manager gets on board with it. When you have a great day at the office, it really is a fantastic day.

    Cons

Don't expect to be treated like a human being with a life or rights. Often in cases as a Deputy Manager you pick up all of the rubbish from both ends, your general manager and your team come first and you are the glue that holds it all together at whatever cost to yourself personally. Days off are not really a thing (again this really does depend on your general manager) and you are always on call, no excuses. less than 11 hours between your shifts *what are you complaining about, you will never be a General manager with that attitude* work way over your contracted hours in a week, have your hourly pay drop below minimum wage (because your salaried) *everyone has to go through that, its going through the motions, whatever the business needs* because your General Manager does not want to increase their labour spend in that given week. You are also expected to pull miracles out of nowhere on a daily basis, Managing a shift making sure that the guest is great and the team too but also complete tasks such as training team, recruitment, team reviews, line cleaning - with no additional, dedicated time in your schedule away from the usual shift managing. meaning that you have to half bake something to get you by from whatever quite period. You really have to love your job and the industry because the other compensations are not great.
