I have been working at Greene King part-time

    Pros

Consider all possibilities. Reasonable hours. Feel very much part of a team.

    Cons

    The pay is sometimes unpredictable.

I worked at Greene King part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Transparent with staff, great training and the company works hard to make everyone feel like valued team member within a family atmosphere.

Payments are always unproblematic and on-time. All hours recorded on the systems thanks to the fob which clocks you in and out.

Great menus and drinks so good sales and keeping customers happy is an easy job.

    Cons

The managers of each individual chain are bound to ambitious overturns and profits, so as long as the figures match up, the restaurants standards and general customer service are not taken notice of.

    Advice to Management

Maintain service standards amongst the staff, employ people who genuinely want to do a good job in order to stop losing money and reputations due to constant refunds being demanded.

I have been working at Greene King full-time

    Pros

A good opportunity to increase social skills and hone problem-solving in a high pressure environment.
A third off (33% really) food and drink across the managed estate (over three thousand pubs, restaurants and hotels).
Access to a 'sharesave' scheme: discount rate GNK shares taken straight from wages.

    Cons

Limited opportunities for advancement in the company.
Very low bar for prior experience when making new hires so likely to end up on a team of people with very little aptitude for the job.

    Advice to Management

Set labour budgets at a realistic level. One person can not keep an entire restaurant happy for eight hours.
Ensure that at ALL times, a team leader or above is on shift. Incidents and complaints can and do happen, and team players are often not equipped with the knowledge and experience to deal with them effectively.

I have been working at Greene King full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Salary not bad. Reinvesting in pubs

    Cons

Lots of threats of losing our jobs for petty things. Totally unrealistic labour costs. Too many vouchers, poor upper management leadership.

    Advice to Management

Team, team, Team. Invest in them and the sales will come.

I worked at Greene King full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fast paced, no two days are the same, progression is available

    Cons

LONG shifts (sometimes 12 hours plus), needs to be your only job, managers are two target focused and not staff focused, progression is available after a LONG LONG time, and normally you have to move sites to progress anywhere

    Advice to Management

Focus on your staff, not your money, pay you staff the hours they work and stop cheating them out of hours they work
