    Pros

Really fantastic work culture, you feel really empowered to make decisions as an engineer. Lots of creative freedom Great people to work with, everyone is so friendly!

    Cons

Decisions made by senior management are terrible and have resulted in is losing a lot of good people. They don't seem to care.

I worked at Guardian News & Media full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

great company and strong brand, stands for something in a world that often doesn't, some really great people to work with and a nice work life balance. Has potential to do some groundbreaking stuff in the future, some great digital skills in house but hampered by poor decision making and an unwillingness to learn. A good company for wanting to progress and learn, its encouraged and pushed well.

    Cons

Strategy isn't working, cost cuts where they are really needed don't materialise due to unionisation and a lack of will by the board to make significant changes

I have been working at Guardian News & Media for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great people Informal, collaborative work culture Fantastic production tools developed in-house and responsive and creative developer team Great industry-beating daily rate for freelancers Good standard of food in company cafeteria Nice location in developing King's Cross area

    Cons

Hard to progress from freelance sub-editor to staff sub-editor. Staff sub-editor roles are rare compared to mid-level and senior production roles. Another round of voluntary redundancies to be offered soon (2016)
